GoPro Hero 13...Specs, Features, Price & 2024 release date

So 8 k , 1 inch sensor , artificial intelligence , wireless microphones , are these the features we're expecting to see on the GoPro Hero 13 ?

And actually , for the past 4 years around this time of year , it's kind of fun to speculate what we might see , but also if you're new here , don't be a stranger .

So to predict the future , we kinda have to look at the past .

Excellent .

Yay .

And GoPro has been pretty notorious for bringing the same body form factor for about 4 generations in a row .

Now we have the 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , then you have the 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , and 12 .

Those all grouped together to share similar form factors , but as the number increases , the specs do get better .

So we're probably gonna see a completely different body design and some bigger and more impressive specs because the Gopros are getting better , but I think the fan base is kind of losing interest because it's not really appealing to them .

Every year we're innovating .

Every year we're coming out with a new flagship .

And 2024 should be a pretty big year for GoPro .

I mean , CEO Nick Woodman said so himself .

And every year I think we're really wowing people with how far we're taking category .

And having said that , my views don't represent GoPro .

I don't work for them .

I don't even have anyone on the inside giving me some rumors and things like that .

This is all just speculation by looking at the competition and looking what they've released in the past .

And maybe some wish list stuff as well .

Okay .

So with the 13 , I think they're gonna bring out a new processor .

So the GP 3 , and with that GP 3 , I think they're gonna bring out a more intuitive menu system .

It'll be somewhat familiar , but I think they're gonna make it a lot easier to use .

So with 8 k resolution , I mean , that's kind of all the rage right now .

Ace Pro came out with 8 k .

Not necessarily to film with 8 k , but you can have 2 times the zoom without losing the quality .

So I think they will have the capabilities of 8 k , just helping give some better features and stabilization to some of the other resolutions .

So that could be a possibility for the top resolution , but I think they might just jump up to 6 k30 frames per second where they can give you 5 k at a 120 frames per second and maybe 4 k at 240 frames second , and then 2 k at 480 frames per second , and then 10 80 p at 1,000 frames per second .

I think that would be a sellable feature right there .

And I think they'll have a 32 megapixel 1 over 1.3 inch sensor .

I don't think that they're gonna go to 1 inch sensors because I don't think that's what action cameras are for .

You want yourself and the world all in focus when you're doing those action things .

But with that new processor and the help with artificial intelligence , I think they'll be able to do some , like , in camera processing where you can have , like , your bokeh background .

Like in this shot right here , I did this in post production where I can just separate the layers , remove the background from the top layer , and add some blur in the back , just making it look like it pops out .

And also we're gonna see an upgrade to HyperSmooth HyperSmooth 7.0 which is gonna be really smooth and a lot less cropping because of that higher resolution .

And they'll also update their time warp , and using AI , they're gonna make your time warps look even cooler .

Now , it's my guess and kind of wish that they would just have internal storage , and that would eliminate people buying , like , cheap SD cards that will heat up because it's not fast enough to keep up with , all of those high frame rates and resolutions , thus heating up the GoPro itself .

But it's my gut feeling that says they'll probably still have that micro SD card slot .

It'll still have all the same video features that you see on the other models like time lapses , scheduled capture , protune , lighting effects , but I think they're gonna add some more , and again with AI make them even cooler and more fun to play with .

Okay .

So here's where we get to the crossroads on the body .

Is it gonna be bigger or is it gonna be smaller ?

Now when they had these 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , they jumped up to a bigger size with the 9 , 10 , 11 , and 12 .

And my guess is that the 13 is gonna be even bigger , which means it's gonna have a bigger and nicer touchscreen on the back , plus a bigger long lasting enduro battery .

And they'll probably roll out , like , the mini 13 like they did with the 11 , but hopefully better .

It will have the latest WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity , making it more seamless to your phone and other accessories and devices .

It will probably not have GPS in it , but they'll probably introduce a really nice GPS remote control if you wanted to add those , like , GPS telemetry overlays .

I do think that they're gonna keep their classic mounting system with their action finger legs there .

And also with the 12 , they added the quarter thread at the bottom , which , in my opinion , that is so so helpful .

There are times when I've had some of the other cameras with the really nice magnetic mounting systems they have .

But if you forget the mount , well , it's kind of useless .

Whereas how GoPro has it built in , whether it's the action mount or the quarter thread mount , it just makes it so much easier .

So I think they're gonna keep that .

It'll definitely have a removable lens .

I'm not sure if they're gonna bring a Max lens 3 point o .

I kinda feel like they're just gonna give you a lot of those capabilities built into the Hero 13 .

And if you want an even , like , crazier wider field of view , they're gonna want you to get that GoPro Max 2 , their 3 60 camera .

I'm not sure if they're gonna update the media mod so you can get , like , an external microphone and HDMI out , but I'm hoping they come out with an easier USB adapter where you can just plug it in and then get your microphone that way or connect it to wireless microphones or even with that fast WiFi and Bluetooth , you can send that video signal out to a smart TV or something like that without any wires at all .

That would be pretty cool .

The onboard mics will sound even better .

And again , with the AI , I think it's gonna do a better job with wind reduction and noise reduction .

And what I'm hoping for is maybe some more voice commands .

So you could be like , GoPro , go into time lapse mode and start recording in 10 minutes .

If it was able to take more detailed commands like that so that you don't have to rely on going through the menu system by touching it , I think that would be pretty cool .

So the release date will most likely be mid to end of September or early October , and I think it's gonna be a very competitive price at around $399 US .

And they're gonna make some more money by having some really killer accessories , things that you're gonna want , maybe some new lenses , maybe an update to the Volta , but also I think they're gonna really push their software for editing .

Kinda like capcut where you can edit on your computer or your phone for free , but then there's some really amazing effects that you can download and pay for as you go .

But again , this is all guesswork here , so what do you think ?
