Hi and welcome to how to solve a Rubik's cube in 30 seconds .
This is a multi part series that will teach you actually how to solve the Rubik's cube in 30 seconds .
I've seen a lot of videos that say they can teach you how to solve the Rubik's cube in 30 seconds or 45 seconds .
But the fact is when I watch those videos , they're not actually giving you the correct tips .
I placed second in the country for solving the Rubik's cube in 42 seconds a long time ago in my youth .
And now as an adult , I still know how to do it faster than ever .
And I realized there's a lot of tricks that seem to have gotten lost in the process of people learning the Rubik's cube these days or people are just making it up on the web .
So I really wanted to give a serious explanation on how to actually solve this Rubik's cube in 30 seconds .
It's a multi part series .
I hope you'll watch all my videos .
You can always go back , you can always ask questions of me and I'll answer as best I can .
And then the last part I'm going to actually solve it in 30 seconds right here , right ?
Like this .
OK .
So this is part one and this part one is gonna be a little bit of uh basic beginner stuff that many people probably already know .
But I'm gonna actually tell you that you should watch this and I'm gonna give you the headline right now .
And the reason is , is because I solve the Rubik's cube differently than other people solve the Rubik's cube .
Most people will solve it .
When you watch all these videos online or in the books by doing row by row , they do the first row , they do the second row , then they do the third row to solve the Rubik's cube in 30 seconds .
You actually need to approach it completely differently .
I do not use the top row , middle row , bottom row method at all .
In fact , what I use is the , what I call the XS and Os method .
I actually do the corners first until I have an X on every side and then I do the edges .
Second , the reason I do this is because there are fewer turns needed to do that to solve the cube .
And when you're trying to solve a Rubik's cube in under 30 seconds , you need as few moves as possible .
So I'm gonna just go over some of the real basic things here and then I'll teach you how to uh get the corners going and literally , you're going to put Xs on every one of these corners in less than 15 moves .
OK .
So obviously , this may be review for some of you but bear with me , we all know that the center , the centers do not move .
The centers are the only thing here .
The centers are the only thing I put that can never move , you can move everything around , but the white and the yellow will always be opposite from each other .
The green and the blue are always opposite each other .
It it may be different than other types of cubes .
But know that no matter what you do , you cannot move the middle .
That's obvious for most people who are already solving the Rubik's cubes also obvious to most people solving Rubik's cube is that these edges and these corners are linked together .
In other words , this corner here , let me put this back .
So now that I've got the the puzzle back together , this corner here , the orange , yellow blue always must go with the orange center , the yellow center and the blue center , the yellow blue edge must always go with the yellow blue edge .
While there are other yellow pieces , they must always go with their corresponding middles .
That's pretty basic stuff again and I'm just going over it so that we have a true understanding of what most people already know about the Rubik's cube .
Now , the one thing about the great thing about solving the corners , the XS and the Os is that if you really then break it down into saying you're going to do the corners first , which is basically to put an X in every side .
This corner , this corner , this corner , this corner plus the middle makes an X .
And that would be the case for every single side , which I'm going to start to show you in just a second here .
What you'll notice is that there is only , this is obvious , but I'm still gonna say it , there are only eight pieces , 12345678 .
You're not actually doing the middles , remember ?
So that's only eight pieces to put together .
That's why when I say in about 15 moves , you're gonna have an X on every side .
That's really great .
If you're going to solve a Rubik's cube in 30 seconds or under , you need to be moving quickly , you need to be doing few moves and that gives you the fewest moves possible .
That's why when you do the top method and the middle method and the lower method , you actually , while it may be easier in terms of le learning moves , it actually is more turn heavy because every time you turn something down , you're messing up the top and you actually then have to do extra moves to put it back .
So you're never blowing it in my method .
You actually wind up putting a lot of the pieces in place , but it's not until the last 10 seconds , it's not until you're 20 seconds in that you actually put the cube together .
And that's because I have a method that's different .
That's going to show you how to do it .
Yes , it's gonna require you to learn a few moves .
But I'll tell you these moves are really good moves and a lot of people don't even know some of these moves .
They're very valuable .
OK ?
So I'm gonna mess up the cube just to sort of get going here .
It is .
Well , for the purpose of what we're doing , it's fine .
All right .
So here's the mixed up cube and we're gonna move on to step one and step one is the corners , the top corners , 1234 , the bottom corners , 1234 will be done in the next step .
The top corners are the easiest step of the whole thing .
And the reason is because this is how you're starting to solve the cube .
And before you in a championship solve the cube , the first thing that they want you get to do is look at the cube and I'm gonna tell you that this is actually one of the most crucial decisions you're going to make in solving the Rubik's cube .
Because what you're actually going to think about is you're looking at , you're gonna look at the center of every piece and say which side can I get all four corners lined up .
Exactly .
Right , as quick as possible .
So like if you were to look at the blue side , I have a blue yellow red , which is great .
I can just obviously slide that into place , but I've got another blue here and one here it's actually going to take about 10 moves to get all of these blues on .
So that's not a good side .
When I look here at this , at this side , I say , oh , well , there's two easy reds that could come up .
There's a red that can come up .
That could be , but it's , they're not gonna match when I , when I bring them up .
You see .
And so that's even not that easy .
And you wanna look around for the side that actually physically looks like you could do it fast .
Well , here's three oranges together .
That's great .
But look the , this actually orange blue and this orange green they're together , but they're not actually lined up .
So that's gonna take some time and I always take the most amount of time that I'm allowed to really look at all six sides to determine which side is the easiest .
Now , the one thing I don't look at is the center .
I know no matter what the center can be moved around .
I'm looking at the relationship of the outside Xes to find out which top I can solve first and fastest in a perfect world .
You want to do the whole side of the four top xs in about four moves .
OK ?
Um So let me take a look at it and I'm going to suggest that we do orange , the white and I'm going to suggest we do the white because I see there's a white here and I can bring that up in a move and I can see there's a white here with an orange which will match this so that in one move of twisting this white here and this right here , I'm going to have two already in place .
I then can see already that once I've done that , the other two will be very close by to just sort of put up into place .
So one , two , that's already done .
Three , that's already done .
And then the fourth one , which is right here .
I can easily stick into its place .
I'm actually not gonna show you how to do that because if you're watching this video and how to solve a Rubik's cube in 30 seconds , you know how to put a piece from the bottom to the top .
Uh All right , I'm gonna quickly teach you .
So you need to get that piece there .
The piece is there , you bring it down , you move it in , you bring it up .
So there you go .
Now , what you see is we have green , green , red , red , blue , blue and you can turn it if it makes it easier for you so that you can see that the middles match in a speed competition .
You don't have time to keep doing that .
You've just got to know that the relationships of these pieces all work and keep going .
Worry about the middles later .
Notice what I'm not worrying about at all is I'm not worrying about the edges in any way .
The method where they do the top and so forth .
You do this first .
I don't care about that right now .
These are all going to come together later .
It took us all of six moves , which is about two seconds and we are already four of the eight pieces done with the Rubik's cube .
This is gonna be the end of part one .
If you move on to part two , we're gonna put the final X on every side and you're gonna see it's an additional 10 moves and it's done .
Come back .
If you have any questions , please ask me .
I'm happy to answer .
Subscribe to my channel and I will uh you'll be able to see other things that we're gonna do uh and stick around for part two .
