G'day guys and welcome today .
I'm going to make one of my favorite dishes from across the pond .
Chicken fried steak .
This is delicious guys and very easy .
So for starters , you're going to need a steak .
Something about a centimeter thick is what I like to go for a cheap cut .
That's quite lean is the best bet here .
And then simply use a meat tenderizer on that steak until it flattens out to about a half centimeter thick season with some salt and pepper .
And now I'm going to bread this steak .
So here I've got a half cup of plain flour .
I've also got a couple of eggs which I've just beaten .
Now , I'm going to give this flour just a really basic seasoning .
One teaspoon of ground pepper , one teaspoon of table salt and that's all I'm going to add to it .
Now , just give that flour mix a quick stir .
Get all those flavors through and it's time to coat the steak .
So for starters into the flour , then into the egg wash and then back into the flour .
Now make sure this time round it gets a really good coating of flour and then simply let it stand for about 15 or so minutes .
So that coating sticks on .
Well , and now it's time to cook .
I've put some oil into a pan about a centimeter thick and I've heated it up to about sort of 1 61 70 °C .
Then gently place the steak in , cook on both sides for about three minutes per side .
And once it's lovely and golden brown , just remove it and place it onto a draining rack .
So any excess oil can drip off .
And while that's happening , I'm going to make a nice simple cream gravy .
So into another pan and in three tablespoons of oil , I'm using canola oil , one third of a cup of plain flour , mix it together .
Well , season with some salt and pepper .
Allow this to simmer for a couple of minutes and now add in one cup of milk mixed with a half cup of liquid beef stock .
You can leave the beef stock out if you like and just use the milk .
But I find that it really adds a good amount of extra flavor to the sauce .
Stir it until it's nice and smooth and creamy and has thickened and it's time to serve .
I'm having my chicken fried steak with a side of potato wedges .
It also goes great with mashed potatoes and I'm just spooning over a little bit of that gravy and enjoy .
Well , there you have it guys .

It is an absolute ripper .
