Hey , hi .
It's Rich from New School piano .
We're gonna do a quick version of City of stars from the movie La la Land .
All right .
There's a few parts .
Let's do the bass part first .
It's basically the format of this thing is a G minor to ac , to ad minor .
And it goes like this and the format of that is really take a G minor chord octave and then do the seventh and the fifth .
So like this and then it follows that same pattern with all the other chords .
So the G minor again , now to the C using the same pattern because that's the seventh , that's the fifth and now to the D minor , same thing .
OK , you might notice that when you listen to recordings on youtube and other places , it's played in a couple of different keys .
It actually starts in one key and then when they do the duet , they go to this key , which is in this G minor thing .
Um , the start of the goes five times on the G minor and then it goes into the verse with the C and the D minor and it does it again it does G minor .
C but instead of the D minor , it goes to the f , I'm gonna show you that whole bit .
Here we go .
UCF .
All right .
So that's basically the format for diverse .
And you'll see when some people are doing solo arrangements of it , they're going to do something like this .
They basically just copying the melody line which the vocalist is doing .
But if you're just doing a straight accompaniment with , with the singer , you'd probably just be doing it like this and so on .
Right .
It gets to the next part is the section , I guess it's the bridge or the course , it's the flat A D minor and it does it mostly the same D flat and then it doubles and it looks like this .
I forgot that c there , OK , go back and rewind that to get that part .
The final part is , let me play it once and then I'll explain it .
It goes like this .
It's like the beginning that it does and then back to like the big , we'll do that again .
So it's , and here's this new part , it starts and that's an F A minor with an E base .
A diminished with ad sharp .
And then I hit this high note cord up there and then it holds on this G minor and it rolls on it to an A and then finally it does that D minor role , but it rolls D to C like this and then it goes back to them .
All right , you're gonna have to rewind , go back over the few parts .

You're welcome , Maddie .
