How to make a Nappy Cake - two minute tutorial with printable instruction sheet!

show you how to make a nappy cake , a clever gift for a mum to be and the perfect centrepiece for a baby share .

Start making your cake by rolling 27 disposable nappies .

Place them picture side down and roll from the fold .

Fix each roll with a new hairband .

I'm using brightly coloured cloth bands so that they can be seen if they ever get dropped on the floor .

Once you've rolled 27 nappies , take an empty sweetie tin and put a large elastic band around it .

This will help you fix 17 of the rolled nappies around the edge of the tin , thus creating the bottom tier of your nappy cake .

As you can tell , it's very important to wash your hands before you start making a nappy cake and also to construct it on a clean surface .

Remember , you'll want your friend to be able to use all of the items once her baby is born .

My favourite nappies to use for nappy cakes are Huggies newborn Disney pictures .

As you can see here , I'm making a pink piglet themed nappy cake , but you can choose any theme you like .

Once you've placed 17 rolled nappies around the tin , finish the bottom tier by tying a metre of thick ribbon around it to hide the elastic bands .

Next , take a rolled up baby blanket and repeat the technique using the final 10 rolled nappies .

This is going to be the top tier of your cake .

Once you've finished it , put it to one side .

Whilst you fill the bottom layer of the cake , start filling the cake by placing any packaging or labels in the bottom of the tin for future reference .

Then add a pack of Johnson's baby wipes .

Add 3 300 millilitre bottles of Johnson's product .

Then this will be the front of your cake .

For the back of your cake , take a bag of cotton wool , squeeze all of the air out of it and mould it round the back of the cake , leaving a hole in the middle to finish constructing your nappy cake .

Take the top layer , flip it upside down and let the rolled nappies rest on the tops of the bottles .

Finally , wrap the cake in cellophane to keep it clean during transport and add a soft toy and a bottle to complete the decorations .
