It's riff Raff by a CDC and I thought , what the heck , I'll just take a couple of minutes out and throw you something that might be kind of fun for you to practice .
Uh , so here it is , we're gonna break down the parts really quick of riff raff for you .
And , um , again , you don't have to be a huge , a CDC fan , but this song has got great bluesy groove to it , in my opinion .
Anyway , so the first thing is , is that you've got this , this intro that's built off going on the fourth string and seven on the third string .
So you're going to be going like this , you're going to play four and seven and then you're gonna take whatever finger you've got on the four and just move it up to the five and then you do the same thing again and you stop on the floor .
Ok .
So you're going in between each one of those , you're just gonna play a , there's a , there's like a down up and it's , again , the , the whole point of this is that it's more bluesy .
It's , it's , it's not as tight .
So you're not looking for like a metal kind of down , you know , palm muting sort of thing .
You're just looking to keep this nice and wide and you're gonna go and then those two zeros that you're doing happens in between each one and you can hit the three strings the 5th , 4th and 3rd together when you do the strum or you can just hit two and they'll sound just fine either way .
So whatever is most comfortable when I'm playing , I don't really pay attention .
I'm probably hitting two sometimes and three sometimes .
But the goal is to keep these two or these two first notes alone and then when you come down with that downs , then you hit two or three strings there .
Nice and right , then you do the exact same thing again , but you're gonna attach instead of waiting in between , you're gonna attach right back to that .
A so watch what I'm , I'm talking about here , I'm going to go .
So they're very similar to each other .
And again , I would highly recommend listening to the song just to kind of get a feel for it .
Those are the two main parts .
Now we move or the two intro parts , now we move into the main riff here , which is going to be based off a he's drum that three times and then what you're gonna do is you're gonna play or on the uh fifth string ?
Ok , then you're gonna play two on the fourth track .
Then you're gonna do a pull off from 3 to 0 on the fifth string .
Then you're going to play for five on the fourth string , three on the 3rd , 5th string .
Excuse me .
So , and then you strum those three , strums again on a and I'm picking all of those except for the 3 to 0 pullout .
If you're gonna move over to the D and you're going to play ad and then ad suss and then back to D .
So you're gonna use that pinky right there on the third of the first string .
It sounds like this .
Then you go back into the main riff again , but you're only going to strum that a one time .
You strum it three times at the beginning to get the riff going at the very beginning of the song .
But once you get into the meat of this , we go into the last little part of this riff , which is the six string and then we're gonna do a slide from four on the fifth string and five on the fourth string .
We're gonna slide up like that .
So we're gonna go and you'll notice I'm putting a zero in between each one of those .
Now , I'm gonna play the whole thing in just a second here .
So you can kind of hear how it all goes nice and slow just breaking down the part .
So part number one was the intro .
Part one .
OK .
The next section is that same idea , but we're connecting them together like this , then we move into the rift .
Sorry .
And you're back again now because some of the parts of this song are on offbeats .
You , you may be inclined to start them with ups strokes versus downs strokes .
But again , that's all , you know , relative to what's comfortable to you , right ?
So what I mean by that is , let's say I'm coming from this part , you see that a is on an offbeat .
So for me , it feels comfortable to go to it with an upstroke .
The same thing happens when I go to the E section .
So you see those are on uh on upstrokes for me , but they might not be for you .
It just depends on what's comfortable .
So anyway , kind of a fun tune to play and of course you've got this sitting right here that you can watch again if you need to and kind of learn how to play this .
Um But give it a try , see what you think of it .
I think it's a really fun tune and , and definitely worth , worth checking out and learning .
So take care and I'll speak to you soon .
