Hey guys , Canadian rider today , we're going to be doing a review on the 2014 ducati 899 penal to give this bike a nice review .
I've had it for six months , put about four or 5000 kilometers on the bike .
Now , I really want to kind of give you guys my thoughts , what I think about the bike and everything I like and everything I don't like and my overall thoughts .
So the first thing and it's quite obvious it's the first thing that lured me towards this bike is the absolute stunning looks of this motorcycle .
You can compare it to a lot of other bikes .
And if you look at it like , this is by far the most gorgeous motorcycle out there .
You know , I think that 675 Daytona Triumph is also another nice motorcycle , but this takes a kick .
I love the sound of this bike .
It's literally a work of art .
So that's the first thing that got me looking at this bike in the first place .
Just the sheer beauty of it .
This bike in Canada brand new .
It roughly cost 16 , 17,000 , the co came out with the 959 and that's going to keep the same basic price in Canada .
So you definitely look at it .
It's an expensive bike guys all said and done .
So definitely on top of the competition , you're at least spending 3 $4000 for a 899 cc super bike .
It's rather small when I say small , like some of the other bikes , especially some of my friends , they got and sixes and all that stuff .
They're pretty thick around where your legs are the gas tank .
Um Really large bikes in that regard .
This bike I was coming from my ninja 2 50 .
Feels almost exactly like my ninja 2 50 .
The area by the gas tank here .
Um Just the very , like the waistline of this bike is really small .
Feels like you're on a nice , fine thin Italian girl .
Really nice .
So once you get on the bike , you're definitely introduced to this wonderful electronics package .
So with this bike , you get all this stuff here , the safety features from ducati , you have electronic braking control , you have dynamic traction control and you have a BS and these are all adjustable based through three different modes .
So we have a sport mode , we have a wet mode and we have a race mode .
So right now I'm in the sport mode which puts the EBS DC T C and A BS in those settings .
Now , you can change the settings and manipulate them however well you like .
So for example , for me , I took off all engine brake and control because I didn't like that personal preference , you can do whatever you want .
But in each mode , it gives you a preset , you know , kind of config and you can go ahead and choose what you like and what you don't like .
One example is this is wet mode and this is a special case for wet mode and this is great for people that are getting on a bike and they're maybe a little bit intimidated by the power .
They want to start off with a , you go ahead and wet mode .
It actually limits the bike to 100 horsepower about 100 horsepower .
So that's really good .
It keeps all the nannies on for you just in case if you're just starting out on a motorcycle or maybe you don't feel super comfortable unleashing this thing's power .
Go ahead start in wet mode .
That's what I did .
I started this bike in wet mode .
I progressed up now .
Now I'm in sport mode .
So I definitely , I recommend you do that if you're a little bit shy or gun power shy .
One other great feature about this is the quick shifting feature .
So if I'm in third gear , you can go ahead and pop the Upshift bam .
Does it for you automatically ?
No need to touch the clutch .
It really feels like a rifle kind of thing .
Um , clicks in nicely .
It does feel a little jellish if you do it at low R PM .
So that's why I recommend everybody .
If you're using the quick shift , it's kind of meant for like going really fast bottles on bam shift .
That it's really nice and you still get the satisfaction of downshifting yourself so you can go ahead and clutch it and down shift .
It doesn't have that .
But you know what , down shifting without putting the clutch in , it just feels too weird .
Let's talk about the power .
This bike has a shit ton of power 899 CCS in this motor beat win by Ducati .
What a great motor .
It sounds great .
It has great power .
It really opens up after 7000 R PM .
7000 up is really when this thing really winds up , opens up and gives you that du performance power , not saying anything under seven isn't great .
It's just , it really opens up after seven .
I really like to compare it to my 2011 , 5 liter Mustang .
I had those people are familiar with it .
The five liter Coyote engine on those Mustangs was an award winning engine and I feel like that engine and this engine have so many similar characteristics .
Beefy power down low , great sound really opens up at a specific R PM , great torque down low .
I really feel this is the equivalent to a 11 2005 liter Coyote engine .
So we've talked about the engine and the engine is great and everything so rid in the streets .
Now , I talked to you guys about how this bike feels really light like my ninja 2 50 .
So it's really easy to turn this thing in honestly .
And because of the aggressive riding position , it gives you that ability to make sure you can counter steer , go into your turns , which is really nice .
Like guys , this is so maneuverable .
Look at this , this just , it just goes left , right left , right , no matter what you want to do , it will do it .
So that's really cool .
It's really great that it feels like a small ninja 2 50 in a way that you can kind of send it what direction you want at will .
Honestly , I love the way the bike feels when you're on , it feels very precise , it feels like a weapon , you're on a weapon and you're in this aggressive seating position which you got to get used to use your legs kind of hold you up because you will eventually numb out your wrists .
If you don't , I was coming from 2 50 .
It was way more of a relaxed position than this .
I'm still comfortable on this bike besides the seat .
You know what , I don't want to talk about some of the negatives on this bike because I think the negatives are very minor and really don't deter from my overall opinion .
Of the bike , I made a separate video about that .
The top five things I hate about 899 and those things are very minor , like the lack of clerical on the red paint on the seat being a bit hard , the rear sets being slippery .
Some of this stuff in their common problems on the throttle being a little bit too much play , but they can be fixed usually with very minor modifications or parts .
So I won't talk about that too much .
And that's my review , guys of the 2014 Ducati 8 99 penal .
So I hope this review helped you out if you're looking to go ahead and purchase this bike in the future , depending on what bike you're coming from .
Like I came from a ninja 2 50 to this .
So I kind of dig go over all the positives and some of the negatives I kind of just quickly talked about .
I really wish I had it still .
And that's another part of the story is that I don't have the bike anymore .
I'm making a video about what happens to the bike in the next video I'm releasing after this .
And I just want to say , I wish I had it back .
I love this bike guys .
I , I don't think at all if anyone's interested to get the bike , you're gonna have any disappointments .
It's a rolling piece of art on the streets guys .
It's absolutely beautiful when you're on it .
You really think you're on something special .
So if , if you're a future owner there or your current owner , treat the bike with respect , you know , make sure you baby it and uh take care of it because it's a wonderful , wonderful motorcycle , wonderful piece of work and machinery created by Ducati .
And that wraps up my review of the 899 guys .
If you like this video thought it was interesting .
Give it a thumbs up if you dislike this video , give it a thumbs down .
