Now , I'm a BMW fanatic .

I've owned several of them , including a couple of M twos .

But if there's a brand that I love more than BMW , then that is Porsche .

And if there's one car that I love more than the M two , then that's the key .

Now , this is no ordinary came on , it's the 2020 came on G T S 4.0 .

And if at this point you're going well , didn't they just release a 7 18 G T S like in 2018 ?

Well , yes , but this new one brings something to the table that Porsche fanatics want and screamed about for quite a while .

A new engine and yes , it's not a four cylinder .

So the Caman G T s , what is it ?

Well , it's the most powerful non G T K one you can buy and it sits below the G T four and above the K one s in Porsche's lineup .

It's got a lot of standard equipment P A S M adaptive dampers that lower the car by 20 millimeters .

And the sport chrono pack that offers four driving modes and incorporates dynamic engine mounts the car seats on 20 inch alloys wrapped in Michelin pilot sport four S tires and on the back wheels , we have a mechanical limited slip differential with torque vectoring visually , there's little difference between this and an s first , you have these details on the doors and then the exhaust tips and diffuser are different , but that's kind of it on the inside .

You get this G T steering wheel dress topping Al Cantara as standard .

And speaking of Alcantara , if you're not a fan of the material , you're not gonna love this interior .

The roof is Alcantara .

There's some on the door on the gear lever and on the seats , but there's also some lovely carbon fiber inserts on the dash driving position is perfect .

You sit quite low in the car and uh yeah , that's enough admiring this car while it's standing still .

Yeah , before I tell you how this car drives , can we just stop for a second and just appreciate this car for what it represents right now .

You can walk into a Porsche dealership and you can buy a mid engine sports car that's wheel driven and has a manual transmission and that engine right behind me .

It's a four liter , naturally aspirated flat six power unit that can produce 400 horsepower and all of this in a regular portion .

This is not a G T or an R S product .

It's a run of the mill portion .

So let's focus on the biggest change that this car brings to the table that G T four engine sitting right beside me .

That power unit is mechanically identical to the one in the G T four , except it has 20 horsepower less .

It's got the same torque figure but 20 horsepower less .

It makes a total power of 400 horsepower and 420 new meters of torque .

It goes from north to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.5 seconds .

And now that we've got those figures out of the way , let's address the elephant in the room .

I really liked the other 7 18 versions .

I drove a few years back , but I always had one major issue with the engine powering those they were very fast .

They sounded pretty loud but they lack that typical Porsche scream near the red line .

So has this engine fixed that issue ?

Well , how about you ?

Listen for yourselves .

Yep .

All is good in 7 18 land .

It's actually pretty damn perfect to be honest and all that screaming that you hear is done above 7000 R PM because this car has a red line that starts at 7 , 800 R PM and just listen to this .

You can imagine response is excellent , naturally aspirated engine for the wind power delivery is linear .

There's no spikes throughout the rev range and this engine really loves high revs above 5000 R P MS is where it's at its best .

And that's really an issue .

Because of the manual transmission , it's fantastic .

Don't get me wrong .

Probably the best in the business , but the gear ratios are ridiculous .

I mean , have a look how long second gear is .

Yep .

You can actually go from 20 kilometers per hour to 120 in second gear alone .

And because this fantastic engine likes high revs , you won't really be able to take advantage of that , at least on public bureaus That's the only and really the biggest drawback .

This car has its gear ratios and I hate to say it , but Porsche just unveiled a way to solve this issue just a couple of days ago when asked Porsche said that they've done this because of the emission regulations , having to change gear less makes this car more friendly towards the environment .

But on the other hand , quite a few journalists suggest that this is the way for Porsche to protect their more expensive cars .

So , yeah , having a manual transmission is great and everything , but you can't really properly use it on a big road because you're kind of stuck in second gear .

But that's all the complaining I'm going to do about the gearbox because the shifts are perfect .

The transmission has a lovely mechanical feel to it .

The clutch is perfectly weighted and it's just a joy to use .

I haven't really mentioned the handling and that's because it's pretty much identical to the K one S and Box 30 .

I've already reviewed .

You can find the links to those videos in the description down below , but to sum it up , it's flat to the bands and there's very little understeer add to that .

The near perfect steering set up and the grip this fantastic Pilot Forest tires offer and you have arguably the most fun to drive .

Sports car are on sale right now .

The brakes are very good as well .

I wouldn't bother upgrading to the ceramics .

And despite the fact that this car rides on 20 inch alloys , it's quite comfortable as a daily driver .

So , yeah , how to sum up this car then ?

Well , it's pretty damn perfect , to be honest .

It's expensive nonetheless .

But if you ask me , it's totally worth the money .

It's the most old school sports car you can buy in 2020 .

And considering the fact that the next Cayman is going to be electric that makes this came on G T S four point oh , even more special .
