E36's New Engine + Formula Drift S15 Update!

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Fasten your seat belt , that point .

You know that thing .

Hey guys , welcome to today's video .

We've done a lot of videos at the compound that involve the compound but not a lot about working on cars .

So today is going to be our first , Mike fasten your seat belt .

I hope you learn your lesson .

I hate this beep .

I'm waiting back to my video .

So we've been making a lot of videos about compound related stuff and not about building cars at a compound while we've been playing around with Go Karts and a lot of other stuff .

There's actually been quite a bit going on between the S 15 with Formula Drift right around .

Dude .

I will freaking crash right into this AC U that Taylor has already crashed into once .

Oh my God , can't do anything worse .

All right , back to my video .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So we're going to work on cars or actually we're going to tell you all the work that's been done on cars while we've been playing around and doing non car related stuff .

So four wheel drift is right around the corner .

The S 15 mechanically is pretty much done .

It's now aesthetic stuff for the most part , we'll show you guys updates on that , but the E 36 has got a new engine and it's spicy Johan has been doing work on that thing and I can't wait for you guys to see how it's coming out .

We're going to start up with E 36 then at the end of the video , we'll give you some updates to the spice .

Yes , 15 .

So if you remember the last time we kind of filmed with this thing , it was right before clutch kickers , we went to start it and it was down a cylinder and it turned out that I had a bad engine .

So we wound up taking the S 15 just because of time reasons and not wanting to do an overnight engine swap .

But now we've had time and John has been working diligently to reveal the brand new two Jay Z .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So John , the Jay Z expert has been helping us put together kind of an engine based on a lot of parts we had laying around .

So now we officially have our first two J head .

So hopefully this thing won't kind of choke the car out like the one J head was on the bottom end .

So no more 1.5 , Jay Z John , this thing's got some 272 BC CAMS .

Yeah , PC Rods pistons .

No , I don't remember what this bottom end has .

It's , it's got this is a ford bottom end .

So we're , we're looking good .

Hopefully now it stays cool less the E E G T stays low .

Air attempts seemed low .

So one thing that'll help with that too , we switch from the G 37 70 which is like , you know , kind of a good size to refer to , but definitely on the smaller side up to the G 35 900 .

So we'll be able to kind of make the same power at lower boost .

The other thing that we did on , it is hard to see from here .

But before the radiator used to be mounted to the front of the bumper support .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

And in order to do any service to the front of the engine , the whole front had to come apart .

So to make that easier , I mounted the radiator to the frame rails , um , from the bottom .

So , so those brackets are bolted up and I use some , um , not inserts on the chassis .

So all you have to do is drain the coolant , remove the hoses , unplug the fans radiator drops right down the whole front end .

It stays on the car .

We can serve as a motor , do whatever we need to do and it goes back the same way .

It would have been cool to run a plasma man and take manifold on this because it would look beautiful .

But because of the brake booster , um , it was just way easier to stick with stock manifold .

So I wish we got footage of it , but you cracked open the sand blaster and used it and it just work .

It , it works .

I need some , uh , maintenance because , uh , they do .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

You have to step on on top of the sand blasting units because it's just sand blowing everywhere and that sand wears down the hoses , the pipe down there .

This sucks all the sand up .

You know , it looks good .

Other little new bits Derek has actually just released a bunch of new fuel rails .

It's going to be hard for you to see .

But the two J one looks beautiful and we actually needed it because we needed to run different injectors and different fuel rail because the one J one doesn't work with the two J set up .

But that looks really nice .

I have these little reinforcements too .

My structures are about to blow through the shock towers .

So PBM makes these little plates .

You guys already know I talk about it .

All the heat management is really , really important , especially with drift cars because of how hot everything gets D E I .

You guys know , I always talk about all the cool products they make from the Velcro sing to the sing that you put on when you're making lines .

Turbo Shields , exhaust header wrap .

And I am proud to announce that they are actually now an official sponsor of my F D program .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So super cool , especially since we've been using their products for years and now having them on board , I'm super excited .

They've been sending us some really cool stuff to play with that .

We haven't even seen before that we're going to start using in a lot of builds and kind of share with you guys .

So uh we'll go into a little bit more detail on some of their products that we use on the 15 .

Um but on this , I mean , I guess the only other really stuff I had to redo the intercooler piping .

Um This looks really nice how you did it on the elbow here and kind of coned it out .

Yeah , I like the cast on the compressor , right ?

Similar to the R 32 .

Um We did that pipe , used some of the old one stuff on the bottom .

So I , and then um the down pipe , four inch down pipe .

I don't know if you mentioned that , but we switched to a four inch down pipe and you can put your fist in it .

You wanna make some power ?

Let me tell you .

And then , oh , that manifold too .

I guess I have the doc manifold sitting on the shelf and it was supposed to be what was gonna go on the chaser .

But uh unfortunately , you know , this was more important and I wanted to drive this and kickers .

I don't wanna risk the 15 again .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So we had that laying around and I know we had to like get some two J parts from random people .

But between all of us and all our friends and random stuff we had laying around , we were able to kind of throw this thing together , but that's the biggest drawback of going .

The three liter head is just that you have to do different manifolds .

And that was the allure of the 1.5 Js .

We could keep the same manifold turbo set up , didn't have to redo everything .

But now , oh yeah , and we have the old valve covers from the S 15 which have some cool little baffles in them .

We got the nice little radium fittings .

Yeah , it's like the mini is like actually now the mini S we've seen like we always said that , but I'm so excited for them to hear it .

Oh , and you guys know like here you wanna , you wanna pop this thing up in there so they could see what's hiding underneath your skirt .

Yeah , one more .

Unfortunately , we've set the bar so high that now pretty much any car that we do needs Titanium exhaust .

And John did himself on another car .

One thing uh you know , the other engine didn't really blow .

It's always a good idea to change the oil collision because you can any metal or debris .

So we've got a new fresh oil clear in there .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Um Oh , you can see from here the mount you're talking about .

So it's easier the accessible 10 millimeter bolt on both sides shows now , two bolts on each side .

Um , here you can see also the oil pan .

Uh , it's like a million times better .

It's freshly painted too .

But , uh , I don't like using paint , but it was in a rough condition .

So we had a time blast and you can't leave it there because then it will get easier , easier , uh , dirty , easier .

You know what y'all did ?

It might get easier , easier , it might get easier , easier .

Hopefully soon we can powder coat stuff here .

That yeah , that's because I used to particles and stuff .

So I'm excited , you know , all the everything .

I don't know if we used to have an A T I damper on this car but she got a damper but check out this , this bad girl .

So the whole thing , pie cuts here , there's none is we didn't need to do pie cuts here .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So I just like cut angle to find the where the the sauce needed to go to and I just cut in an angle .

Maybe the sauce .

It looks clean less .

Well , one less .

Well and then just follow through um we ran out of material so we just decided to put a turn down from Oh yeah , this is from the the super and actually this whole exhaust is left over material from the 34 .

So uh nothing but the finance vibrant stuff .

Um We luckily over ordered when we were doing that exhaust and had some laying around .

Otherwise we probably would have no , I probably still would have wanted done Titanium just because I'm such a weight this car and it had a Titanium one .

This is the old one .

Like , it's , I mean , this is obviously three inch but like , like really like , yeah , that was not Titanium but yeah , we'll probably end up doing a similar tip to before and it will look all cool .

Um You know , I did just realize this looks like is this a dash six feed ?

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So that might be part of the reason why , what you guys are about to see .

So this is kind of one of those fun videos where we've been like kind of stacking footage on the side .

So this car has already hit the Dino we've already made power with it and we've already figured out the issues that it has and one of them is that it started running out of fuel with a new set up and probably use some bigger line because I think I think the D W-4 100 should do 7 50 on E but the dash six feed with E is kind of a little small that's pushing it .

Yeah , other than that , I think the only thing really left on this car that needs to be improved eventually this trans is kind of our weak point as we know already , but hopefully the clutch damper will help a little bit with that .

Hopefully no break coil packs are another thing .

We still got stock coils on this .

Are they the same one J to two J ?

Pretty much ?

So , as far as I know this car , you guys are about to see made some pretty good power and we're pushing the limits of the stock coil pack .

So hopefully check in a new set and we'll fix some of the issues that you guys are about to see us having on the dino .

Enjoy .

So we just got back from an undisclosed location .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

There's a bunch of videos that we've been stacking up that I can't post for a very complicated reason .

But nonetheless , I didn't get to hear the E 36 1st start with the new engine set up because we weren't there .

But I'm about to hear it for the first time and we're about to throw it on the dino .

I know this is in the middle of the video .

So it doesn't really make much sense , but hopefully it will make sense when you guys finish watching this video .

But it's got a two J head now , some big cans , a little bit bigger turbo .

She's gonna wreck in addition to the Tuesday ahead .

We also went up to 30 .

It's got kind of a hot spot .

The random parts get laying around this year down .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

The mother is special sauce but listen to this thing .

Mm Me .

Yeah .

Can Yeah , you might notice we're at a different dino than usual .

You've been watching for a while .

We're actually at Phillips .

Our buddy Lewis over here actually put in the dino .

He's got his own dino now and we've just been using Titan a lot .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

I feel kind of bad sometimes going there after hours and Freddie was already here tuning another car .

So it was easier just to bring it here and hop on the dino .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

697.58 --> 787.979

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

The earthquake , big earthquake guy , a big earthquake guy .

I don't know if we decided to put the numbers on the dino stuff .

So I don't know if you guys can tell that there's a difference with the amount of power the car made , but it did make a little bit more than it did before .

The beautiful thing is usually we would have to go to O W run out the track drive there , bring everyone there and it would be a massive pain .

But the beauty is we've just kind of revised a few things .

Stole the coil packs out of the chaser , which are brand new O E M ones just simpler than doing any sort of conversion right now and we can just test it right in our own parking lot .

So that's what we're going to do .

We're going to test the brand new engine here .

How she sounds .

Freddie is going to review some logs and stuff and then we'll show you what's been going on with the 15 brother .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

I'm excited guys .

This new setup sounds spicy .

I'm going to do a little bit of warm up doughnut .

Make sure everything feels ok .

Just kind of play on the safe side .

Watching some logs , make sure oil pressure temps , everything is cooperating and then we'll start to do some full rips problem .

Wow .

It feels a lot different than it used to .

Yeah .

Watch for the wall look spicy .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Got to be careful with this water .

I forget to put it in the log for Freddie .

He's going to kill me .

Drag star .

Still got a pretty good gap in between years .

So that's good .

I was worried that maybe I would fall out of boos but talking about feeling good .

What obstacles , Fred ?

Some good data .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Right ?

Cool .

And we get up to two oh six .

Not bad .

Not bad .

Not bad .

Intake time is only 1 25 .

That's very good .

Usually this thing will get crazy like 200 degrees .

Yeah .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So I s are phenomenal .

We didn't get over like 1 14 .

You know , this thing would be like way up high uh around 2 10 .

So it's a little bit hotter than I'd like because they're going down .

Not really great though .

There was um I was worried that maybe there would be a little bit of like a trans lag or a gap between gears , but I feel like I'm right in the beat when I go from 2 to 3 , which is pretty , pretty good .

I felt great .

I don't know if you want to look that and look it over and then what up oil pressure good down here .

Um , he , everything fell fine .

Yeah .

Making sure like everything looks good .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Hi , everything look good .

Anything specific you want me to try to do everything look good .

The only thing that I took the most work was that I was a little lazy .

Got it .

But if you can try to hold , like , you know , like , want me to hold a little bit more consistent throttle , I'm going to try to get the car some air to see if it will cool down a little bit faster .

Now .

She's spicy .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Yeah , it's good .

You know , I'm not even flashing revel in third .

So you can tell that the car is pretty hooked up .

That's cool .

And we'll try to do a little layout through here .

Don't see any water .

2 13 , a little bit on the hotter side .

They call that down here and then I'll loop back in that other strip .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Probably just want some nice smooth top of the water .

Could use a little bit more boost .

Almost feels like in the mid range , but she's not bad .

2 15 .

Ok .

A little on the hot side .

She's spicy , that's for sure .

I lost power of steering .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

It sounds like my idol is a little rough too .

Oh .

Oh , ok .

I , no , yeah , here in only pump flexing but it's the same set up , right ?

Yeah .

Poor baby .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Fuck you .

Good .

I'm good .

Fine .

Take your time .

What car can we take it off of ?

What doesn't have , uh AC that has ac stolen Jay Z without AC uh , other than the 15 , yeah .

15 crazy belts even last year's .

Yeah .

Different overall .

Like in terms of a fresh tune , the car felt great .

Power is perfect .

I don't know if you could tell it wasn't even hitting red line in third .

So , like we could technically add more sauce to it if we wanted to .

We could see the fuel system for it now .

Oh , and coils for it .

Yeah .

Well , these seem to do a lot better than yesterday , but it's definitely like it feels good .

Yeah , she's a ripper .

Um , overall happy with the response with the bigger cams and turbo .

Yeah , it's , it's way better than I expected .

Um , we just got to figure out why we threw a belt , but this is sick .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

I mean , imagine how much it would suck if we went all the way to Os W did a couple laps instantly through a belt .

So this is , uh , yeah , this is cool on .

Hi .

Hi , everyone .

Um , so we blew up a bell .

Um , I think this would be the first time , the first time we do that .

Uh , we saw there was some blacks on the home , everything is tight .

So , what I did was , uh , I adjusted the rod that you use when you delete the ac compressor , uh , to have more , uh , tension on the , so it doesn't move , but that's too much .

Hopefully that does it .

Adam is gonna go out and text and just beat the crap out of the bar .

Let the hire reps because now we can get higher .

So I think that's why it's on the beat .

So we'll find out now .

Yeah .

Mhm .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Ok .

Ok .

My tires closed but I didn't want to give up .

Yeah , she's spanked .

I do .

Yeah , I car feels great .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Um , it doesn't feel like wildly different than the old setup did , but the numbers that I'm seeing on my little screen and that Freddie seeing , um , it signified that the car is a lot happier .

So that's good .

We want the car to be happy .

Everything feels good .

How's fun driving it here ?

It's fast .

I really want to do a back there .

I've , I've figured out that that's probably one of the best back spots here minus the tree .

Um , but my tire is bald , so I'll have to wait for that .

All right , guys , I told you in this video we're going to talk about the S 15 and give you an update before I give you an update on S 15 .

Some exciting news .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

A lot of you guys have been asking me forever if my cars could be in the game , torque drift .

It's a rad drifting game if you aren't familiar with it .

And finally we were able to put something together and get both the 15 , my S 13 and my R 32 all in the game .

So I'll put a link in the description if you guys want to check that out .

It's pretty exciting .

My 15 is in the game with last year's delivery , But as soon as we release the new delivery , which is even more cool , it will also be available in the game .

So that's pretty exciting .

But look , you may notice we have some new body panels .

Sama actually made a whole video on the process behind getting my hands on all this new Yasuo factory stuff .

But I'm very excited and proud to continue my relationship with Okan and Yasuo factory and Sama and they were able to send us not one but two more complete kits for this season .

So we should be set now with eight rounds and me driving more like a , there's a good chance we're going to need them .

So I'm super pumped .

You might notice too .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Their kit usually ends here but they special make them for me because of the fact that I don't have any rear structure for my car left .

So this , this is full custom right here , some full custom factory .

Um but also exciting news , a buddy of Matt's who did some work on his car .

Ray is actually going to help us get these panels painted up here in house .

So he actually came by today and he's helping get the bay dialed in .

So we'll actually be able to both save time and use the bay for the first time on painting up the new kit .

So got the new kit .

Old doors are no good .

Marco spent some time , two days starting to prep the doors .

We're actually going to leave a lot more of the structure inside the door .

Normally you gut it for weight .

But , uh , with the bigger knit tire , which because it measures out bigger , we're in a different weight class than we were last year .

We actually need to add some weight to the car and very easy to add weight just by gutting out less from the doors .

So pretty much nothing has changed on the engine except for that cool clear ebay cover right there .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Um , I think that's really what it's gonna take to win this season .

So I'll just , uh , we'll dry some .

The car has already been on the Dino tested .

Look that thing right down there .

I got the new Fancy motor too , which is thick , makes it easier if any suspension or sub frame stuff needs to get pulled out and it looks pretty cool , Chris you were there at the Dino , tell us the difference that you noticed with , uh , kind of the dry sump power difference .

I don't know , whatever .

So , pretty much the engine package still is the same as from the wet sump and same turbo .

Everything else .

We hit like 8 40 wheel peaked and then fell off .

And then with this set up , it never fell off .

We held , we gained like 15 more wheels like a 68 70 or so .

And then it held it all the way to red line .

Then we started playing with like the vacuum settings on it , pulled the pop off valve off just to see what it would do if it was basically pulling too much air in , lost 30 wheel there .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So you're able to actually like dial these in to where you can , what would you say , maintain the amount of back pressure and vacuum inside of the engine with the pop off valve and the regulator on top .

So essentially because of the crank case pressure and all the oil sloshing around on the crank .

Uh , we had a pretty noticeable difference up in the higher R PM range everywhere else .

It was pretty much the same .

Yeah , everywhere else .

So it was pretty much the same revs a little faster as well .

But everything after about 6500 onward , you have a boat load more power because it never falls off now .

And hopefully we don't lose oil pressure .

Yeah , that's the cool part about it .

Not the power .

Yeah , I don't want to change any more engines .

Yeah .

Let's , let's hope that that's not the case here .

Um But anyway , uh , moving over to this , I told you guys we were using a lot of the D E I stuff on this car as well .

Something new .

That was actually chris' idea that I thought looks really , really ra rather than using the gold foil that's also made by D E I .

Sometimes it can , I don't want to say , look tacky , but it can kind of throw off the vibe of the engine bay a little bit .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So he used , what is their trans tunnel heat shielding ?

That's a bit thicker and has some like really thick adhesive on it .

And I feel like it looks red .

Yeah , I like it a lot better than the gold foil .

The gold foil just stands out a little bit more and this stuff has a larger thermal barrier .

It's a little thicker , a little harder to work with .

But if you film over here , Mike , you can kind of get a better idea of the thickness .

It actually has some insulation built into it .

And fun fact , this header wrap that's also made by D E I .

I actually used one time in my 13 because I kept burning my heels through the carpet and I stuffed a bunch of this underneath my carpet and it works .

But this is like the way more legit and cleaner option .

In fact , Chris also used it underneath my heel plate because I keep burning my heels in this car too .

So very cool little feature .

I don't know if it's marketed for stuff like this , but we've been using it and it is awesome and it looks , it's way easier to make it look good too because like the heat , the gold foil , if you don't have like a perfect flat surface , sometimes it can be hard to avoid the wrinkles , wrinkles .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Um , but I'm super , super pumped on it .

Um One thing that I didn't mention is that I will be carrying D E I products .

I also forgot to mention I'm gonna be carrying Gris Garage products as well .

Um One cool thing that I always try to do when it comes to sponsors F D program , it's really rad to have their stuff on the shelf and be able to ship it out with your guys orders if you want to support the companies that support me .

So we don't have D E I inventory right now , but we are going to order some of our favorite stuff .

We'll have it available on the site and we'll kind of give you guys suggestions and ideas of what you could use it for .

Their new turbo blankets are sick too .

Um Also one thing that you should know if you've never used heat wrap or a turbo lining on a car , it will smell like your car is gonna burn to the ground in the beginning .

That's completely normal .

We freaked out because Chris had been running the car in here and I walked in and it smelled like an electrical fire .

They have , like , you know , a beginning phase where they need to get up to temp and , like , cook whatever oils and stuff are on them off .

And it , it freaks me out .

That's exactly what it sells .

Like , smells like is an electrical fire .

Yeah .

And it usually , like , smoke a little bit in the beginning .

Perfectly normal .

Don't be scared .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

It's been cool .

A lot of friends you guys know from other videos have been kind of involved in the car too .

Chris has been slaving away but people like be race works .

I don't know if you guys remember Arthur who did the cage in my 36 he came by , brought some equipment and actually bent the tubing for the restructure Marco welded that up and I know Marco was giving you a hand fitting some of the windows because we have new baller windows .

Do you know the exact difference in terms of the material ?

Yeah , these are actually polycarbonate .

They're 3 16 thick and they're hard coated inside and out .

I've been after these windows since last year .

So I found these on another F D team that I was on , uh some guys that had a bunch of S fifteens and I fell in love with them once I saw like how they're , they're perforated .

They have A O E M , look , they're a O E M fit .

They're absolutely amazing .

And the cool thing is , is like you can rub these down to microfibers and they don't scratch and when you cut them they have a , a nice edge where you can cut , they don't crack a lot of stuff like Lexan cracks really easy .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

You can clean it with microfiber scratches , you try to cut it and it'll spider web , it'll crack .

Yeah , this stuff is awesome .

So the company's name , they're not a sponsor of ours .

It's Plastic Four Performance .

Correct .

I'm just asking you guys if you order anything from them because you saw this video maybe just let them know and then maybe next time we go to order some stuff plastic performance , they'll hook us up because that'd be really cool .

Is that , is that an ok thing to ask ?

No , I feel like it's reasonable because it's a really cool product , but not a lot of people know about it .

And who knows ?

Maybe John Smith with a s 15 street car wants polycarbonate Windows .

He goes and orders a Blastic Ford performance and doesn't tell him it's because of us .

They might just think that you know who that TV ad we did three years ago is paying off .

Nope , that's not the case .

That's new .

What the fuck is that ?

What the , yeah , the , the beer keg , my dings in my floorboard .

Oh and another uh we keep on talking about all the random people that are involved in this .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Billy made us a pretty cool panel here because , um , he's able to do sheet metal work .

Do we have the panel so I could show them ?

Yeah .

Yeah , this is it right here .

Look at that pretty cool to hide my beer keg from the tech .

So they don't know .

All right .

But yeah , if you guys remember Bilibili helped fit the body kit on the taser forever ago and helped me get that car all straightened out .

The one that was totaled that wound up driving around the country twice that one .

Um But anyway , yeah , look at that , that hold all my oil .

Yep .

I honestly , I have no idea what a dry sump does .

I just got it because everyone in the youtube comments kept telling me to get it and said that that's why man can blow up .

So it's hot in here is just me .

Stop following me around that thing .

You guys might be wondering what we're doing for wheels .

You're gonna have to wait for the next video for that to find that out .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

Don't tell them no one can hear you because you're not wearing a laugh .

Ha ha .

Uh Also one thing that I forgot to mention , I'm sure that he gets it and I was not , I was just trying to flash my knife .

You know , people know I got a knife on me , got terrible smart on the car .

This year , we've been using them on all the other builds and we've had great , fantastic luck .

Their valve design is way better than the other competitors .

They make a really nice product .

So we have their blow valve on this car and then we also have their waist gate .

One cool thing if you happen to have another waist kate on your car , even though it's labeled as a 45 it's the same flange as other competitors .

44 s .

So they are interchangeable and they're very rad .

And I'm excited to always have their support on builds .
