I'm trying not to waste money on like frivolous things in this build and do like what I would have done back when I had this as my first car .
So I'm gonna show you guys a cool trick to clean up your old brake rotors .
I've got a 80 sanding wheel and you can take it and you can get the full life out of your rotor instead of having to , like , go and buy them .
Look , it looks brand new again .

But I thought this would be faster .

I used the smaller one , the angle grinder .
The thing don't ever do that .

So it's , it's a little different .
I do know people though that I've heard that would literally paint their brakes like with the rotor on here and just say , oh , it's fine .
The , the brake pad will just take the paint off .

Like didn't tape off anything literally sprayed the caliper with the rotor and everything .
This is better than when you took that clutch off the S R 20 and then grind it on the floor .

There's many times I've done it and I'm openly admitting to , to you guys because you know what , I put a zip tie on it in almost every clip .
Not because I think it needs it because I know that someone in the comment section is gonna say you can't hang the from the brake line .

I do wanna add a disclaimer that this wasn't like it wasn't even supposed to spend any time doing the breaks in this video , but I'm trying to force myself to do the annoying stuff before the fun stuff that is putting coil lovers in the car and it's just a little bit more involved than I anticipated .
All right , brakes are done now , it's time for the fun part and I've got some stories to tell as we dive into these shocks .
So I actually had coil overs on this car .
So at some point someone put sock suspension back on it .
So hopefully all these bolts will be nice and loose .

You have this thing , I'm positive .
No , no , they have a , hey , you wanna trade jobs So I'm really stoked BC had a set of DS series on the shelf for my E 46 .
So that's what I'm going to be running on this car .
Highly recommend them over the V R s .

Oh , so this is the , this is the funny thing that I wanted to tell you guys about what I messed up when I first did my coil overs ever .
So the first time I ever did a set of coil overs on this car pretty embarrassing , but I have to put this out there that Jimmy did help me and Jimmy didn't know that we messed this up either .
The race lines that I originally bought were intended to reuse the factory strut tops .
So I didn't use the factory strut tops and I don't know how we ended up mounting them .
If I didn't take the factory strutt tops .
Basically , it was like a spring sitting on the perch with no rotation up top .
So when I would turn , you would just hear the springs popping and it wasn't until afterwards , I realized that you were supposed to use the factory strep tops .
That's not a problem with the PC because they come and they're pillow ball .

So this is , this is the cool part , right ?
I had this car , what I thought was low when I owned it and looking back at photos , it was pretty low .
The cool thing is on BMW S .
Everything's tucked up so high that you can be dummy low .
Unlike Mike who needed to cut a bunch of stuff out of his chassis .
Relocate .
Sub frames .
BMW .
S are made to be slammed so much so that we aren't even going to use this .
We're just gonna let her rip right like this .
And I bet I'll still want to make it even lower .
So we're gonna put this in , preload it a little bit and then adjust this to bolt up to the knuckle , drop her on the ground with new wheels that y'all are about to see and check her out .
Now , if we're really close , I could technically take out to and get a little extra millimeters of low .
But uh yeah , so I'll do that .
A girl up in there always make sure you have the number out too .
So when I buy your car , I can see what spring rate you have in it and I don't need to turn your spring around .
I hate when I have to do that .

I kept it pretty clean but working on this car , it's just constantly just getting absorbed by dirt , the vent might not work , but when they do , they're gonna breed .
We got one of these , but we're still waiting on that one .

The final , well , not the final , but the most exciting piece of the puzzle , the wheels , the wheels that I originally had in my car .
And I'll have Mike put a photo on the screen right here were a set of B BS style fives and the way that I got them , my buddy Alec Noski actually had them running around in his garage .
He got them for next to nothing .
I traded him a BMX frame and I think I paid like 50 or $100 for it and got this out of these wheels , which weren't worth a lot .
They're still not worth a crazy amount .
But it was kind of a cool come up for me because I , I refinished them in my mom's dining room and I wound up selling them for , I think , like 1300 bucks on all and done with tires just because of the fact I had to have the car way too low to be drive because they're 17 .
So a subscriber reached out to me , had these wheels and it was convenient because they've already been refinished .
I would have loved to refinish my own set and maybe I will at some point with three P US .
But for now these look like they're in really good shape and it's going to save a lot of time and they already have the tires that I need to mounted to them too .
I think it's a 2 15 , 47 deep , dude .
This , that's backwards .
They're not like the craziest wheels , but it's what I had .

I got a good deal more life left in that car .

These are in really good shape .

He said the only , the only sign of like any sort of pitting .
So he like rebuilt these by hand and the bolts weren't cleared .

These bolts will end up tarnishing over time .

I actually think I had mine zinc plated by a guy .
Funny , zinc wasn't Tommy , but I had him zinc plated by a guy in like , New Jersey or something just to make them last forever .
But I , I made the mistake when I originally refinished mine .
I didn't go deep enough Mike .
I know you ran into this before to like , fully get rid , have the factory clear or whatever on it .
So it didn't work out and I was doing it all by hand .
I didn't have any machines or anything .
So I'm literally in there was sandpaper ruined my mom's floors .
I wonder if they're still ruined .
Um It was with like aluminum dust everywhere but it was cool .
It was a fun project that was like my first involved thing I ever did on a car , but I didn't have time to do it again .
He got the center caps .
These are like O E M I think E 39 5 series wheels .
They weren't on M fives , but I think they were .
How do I take this off ?
I don't remember .
Maybe I just hit them out from the back actually .

So I remember when I got these tires on it , I thought it was the craziest stretch .
I look at this now and I'm like , damn , because it was like , it was pretty tight fitment for not knowing what I was doing .
Like I had to have a decent amount of camera .
It's gonna be interesting to see .

Yeah , these are like , pretty solid .

The cool thing is they'll hide my ugly lug nuts .
That was another reason why I chose these wheels .
Oh , I didn't do hub centric rings when I first got these and my car vibrated like crazy .
I don't have hub centric rings .
So we're gonna have to put those in later .
Very important when you put these wheels on because the M five S or the five series have a bigger board than this .
And the wheel will kind of walk around a little bit but come to think of it .
I wonder if it's also because I never aligned the car and maybe they didn't balance my tires .
It should be pretty good if you have the tapered bloggs .
See this , that's what you need the little ring for .
Yeah , I predict Rear is gonna be tits front .

I think it might actually be pretty good already .
Uh , so rear , I feel like it needs a space or maybe a little camera pulled out of it front definitely needs to come down .

The last step in what to me is more iconic to this car than anything else is the roof rack .
Now , my original roof rack was actually wrong for this car and it was the type that clamped on the window jam here , I think just because that's all I had seen on my friend's Volkswagens .
I thought that's what I needed , but it turns out that this car actually has built in roof mounts here .
So I actually had the wrong style .
Which is ironic .
I don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing , but my car got broken into and I actually dented my roof around the roof racks because they stole my roof rack off of it .
But now I got the right one .
So it'll actually attach here .
It's going to look a little bit different than it used to before , but I won't have , I guess there's no marks .
There used to be like marks and indentations from where the roof rack was .
Uh But yeah , it's gonna leave this car so I can put my bike on it apart from having some mismatch bumpers and some messed up trim pieces and some dents and dings .
It'll be that much closer to feeling like it was when it was at its front .

I have a car that I don't care about putting a tool on the roof of it .
That's pretty cool until I repaint it and put a 3000 horsepower two J Z in it .
So what happened here was a prime example of a 27 year old man who doesn't like to read instructions to be fair .

People don't realize it's just like the perfect awkward length for this to be a thing .

This is a huge pet peeve of mine .
This actually isn't that bad right now , but a lot of times people will put a universal roof rack on a car and the roof bars will stick out to here and it looks like you got four spoilers on your car .
So , what I always do is I'll take them and I'll , I'll measure so I can cut it down and get it looking more like this .
Instead of having a big freaking spoiler hanging off the side of your car , it makes a big difference .
If you're a roof rack , boy , you get it .
If you're not a roof rack , boy , and you're trying to be a car show , roof rack , boy , take notes .
All right , the old roof rack install .
So this fairing is actually from my E 92 .
I don't remember if you can still buy them or not , but this roof or bike carrier thing right here was my favorite back in the day , it was called the Big Mouth and you can't get them anymore .
Probably because a lot of people were dumb and put their bikes on it the wrong way and their bikes flew off .
Uh , never happened to me , but I definitely did drive into a parking garage with it a few times .
So that's one thing you gotta watch out for .
But I like this because it's a nice clean , simple design .
Very ergonomic .
Yeah , I'm gonna clamber down , throw my bike on it and see what this thing looks like in its final form .
