Hey guys , welcome back to Treadmill review guru , I'm Sydney and I'm here with the new 2023 model of the Nordic track commercial .
17 50 .
It's been updated for this year .
So I'm going to go through everything that you need to know and hop on it so you can see it in action .
So let's jump in , right .
So let's start by checking out the construction on the 2023 model of the Nordic Trek 17 50 .
It's a little smaller than the previous model .
So the footprint as it's laid out like this is 78.5 inches long , 35.6 inches wide and about 64.7 inch inches high .
It , I'll get into the size a little bit more in a moment .
But what makes the 17 50 great for most homes is the fact that it folds up .
So the deck folds up using a hydraulic assist .
So you get assistance when lifting the deck and then when you unlock it , it will slowly lower to the floor .
It's also fairly easy to move around with the transportation wheels on the front .
So when you have it folded up , you just need to tilt it back to be able to engage those wheels and you can move it around fairly easily .
The 17 50 handles users up to a £300 .
So this is on trend with other treadmills from Nordic track and , and like most treadmills , the frame is made out of steel .
So this helps contribute to how stable the 17 50 feels to use the frame hooks into the steel uprights and then the console fits on top of the uprights and it stays really steady and sturdy .
Normally with treadmills that have attached touch screens like this one , you get some screen wobble , especially when running .
But I have to say that the screen stays really steady and the console really has a minimal amount really if any shake .
So that's a really nice improvement .
Also , I mean , really on entry level models and even some mid range models like the 17 50 we like to see a steel cross bar positioned between the uprights just to help minimize shake .
But the 17 50 it doesn't need it .
I do think that what helps the console feel so sturdy is the handles , they're a little bit narrower and the console in general is just a little bit narrower .
So everything is a a little bit easier to reach .
And I think this helps make it feel a little bit more sturdy .
The handles don't have the luxurious coating like the previous model , which I will say I do miss a little bit , but it's a textured plastic and essentially does the same job as the previous model .
So this is , you know , it's fine .
They work how they're supposed to and they don't feel slippery when you're sweaty .
The motor is a 3.5 continuous horsepower motor and it's quiet like previous models .
17 50 is a quiet treadmill and I'll let you listen to it when I run on it later in this video .
But the size of the motor , it's great for long distances and running for long periods of time .
And I feel like it's just as powerful and consistent as the previous model .
It's also the same size and it adjusts the speed fairly quickly and it goes up to 12 MPH to give you plenty of speed range to work with the incline is what has really gone through some changes .
So in the previous model , the deck inclined up to 15% and now it inclines just to 12% .
So you're still going to get an effective workout using the incline .
But the difference is a little bit noticeable .
We would like to see in future models of the 17 50 the 15% incline once again , but the deck still declines to negative 3% .
Although that might not seem like much .
It's especially helpful if you're training for a race and you have some down hill sections .
And I will say what's a nice improvement is that how quiet the incline and decline now are when I'm running , when I first started testing the 17 50 I was running , I had to look down to see if the deck was inclining because it's that quiet .
So this is a really nice , a nice improvement to make the incline and decline just more functional and efficient .
Also , another change is that the deck is now 20 inches wide versus 22 inches wide .
Visually .
When you're looking at the treadmill , it's noticeable .
But when all of our viewers hopped on , we didn't notice a difference between the size .
I actually think that this size is ideal for most people and also help the treadmill fit a little bit better in your home because it just takes up a little bit less space and the 60 inches , which is still the length of the deck , like the previous model is what we found in our testing to be a great length for most users to be able to run and sprint for all running strides .
So if you do like a little bit more room width wise , I'd recommend checking out like the Nordic track incline trainers , both flex treadmills or even the sole f 80 85 for though the size should be sufficient .
And like I said , it makes the 17 50 a little more compact to fit better in homes .
And as much as I liked that the sides of the belt were tucked under the side rails on the previous model , this actually made it harder to lubricate the belt .
So when it came time for maintenance , so , although this doesn't look quite as clean , you can kind of see the edges here .
It's better for maintenance .
So when you're adjusting the belt and when you're lubricating , it's just a little bit easier .
So this is a good upgrade and I'm glad they reverted back to this previous design .
The cushioning in the deck is my personal favorite .
I really love running on treadmills from Nordic track because the cushioning just feels soft to run on .
I tend to get discomfort in my legs , especially when I'm running outside on concrete .
So treadmills from Nordic track like the 17 50 are what I pick for distance running .
Personally .
The cushioning in the 17 50 isn't quite as soft as the Nordic track incline trainer , but it doesn't feel bouncy at high speeds .
And I definitely recommend checking out the 17 50 if you get joint discomfort when running and if you're looking for something that's a little bit more forgiving underfoot and Nordic track covers the 17 50 with their standard warranty .
It comes with a 10 year warranty for the frame , two year warranty for parts and a one year warranty for labor and assembling .
The 17 50 is pretty straightforward , but we recommend having at least two people for a smoother process , right .
So the console consists of this 14 inch touch screen .
It's centered and pretty easy to see and navigate .
It isn't the largest screen obviously , but it displays everything .
Well , what's nice about the screen is that it's super adjustable so it can tilt up and down and it can pivot to either side .
This makes it beneficial for training on and off the treadmill when you're taking I fit , which I'll get into in a moment as far as the consoles lay out .
This is one of my favorite designs because it's really easy and intuitive to use .
The quick touch buttons are on either side of the screen and each number is the MPH , which is on the right and the incline range on the left .
So these are helpful for interval training and adjusting the treadmill quickly .
There are also buttons below for starting and stopping the belt and adjusting the fan and speakers .
So the speakers are front facing .
So they point right at you and the volume goes up pretty loud .
The fan is actually pretty powerful .
It isn't adjustable but it has multiple settings for the airflow .
So I'm about 5 ft one and it hits my face and neck .
I'll let you listen to it .
So it has those multiple settings .
Overall , the console is pretty streamlined to include enough functionality but limited storage .
So there are two cup holders on either side here , they're a little bit deeper than the previous model I can fit my 40 ounce Stanley cup in them and it doesn't shake or rattle console holds everything nice and steady .
And my phone also fits in the cup holders .
Unfortunately , there isn't place to put your phone or device to stream content or to read , you know , a book , you're kind of just locked into everything on the screen .
But overall , this console is really easy to use and I really like the layout .
So when you purchase the 17 50 it comes enabled with I Fit and I Fit comes free for the first month , but it's optional to use .
We get asked a lot if the 17 50 can be used without a subscription to I Fit and it can , there are on board workouts and some trainer led I fit class workouts available uh to take without a subscription .
But here's what you get with a subscription .
So I Fit is a complete training platform and has over 16,000 on demand classes and each class is led by an instructor who guides you through the workout .
There are indoor classes filmed in the studio and outdoor classes that are filmed all around the world .
I personally really love the outdoor classes .
They let you explore different areas of the world .
And uh the I Fit instructor is kind of like a tour guide .
My favorite feature of I Fit is the auto adjust feature .
So when you're taking a class , the 17 50 will automatically adjust the speed and incline to match the format of the class .
So if you're taking a class that's hiking up a mountain , the deck will incline to match the terrain scrolling through here .
You see , this is the home screen .
You can see all the different uh class options on the home screen .
They'll recommend workouts uh for you .
And then if you want to explore on your own and take a break from taking trainer led classes , you can click the little create button down here and this pops up the Google map feature .
So this is where it will pop up .
You know , we're in San Francisco right now .
This will pop up , which is kind of a default location and you can go and select whatever location that you want um on the map and I can go in and I can select one area and then I can pick my little ending point and it will draw and create a route for you take .
And then as you're taking the class Google images are shown of the location .
So those pop up as you go .
So this is a really cool feature and it's found in the little create button on the navigation bar below here in I fit the browse section , which is right over here is where you can go to search for different workouts .
There is a search bar and that search bar has also there's filters so you can go through and be able to , you know , search for a specific workout I fit .
They have all sorts of different workouts to choose from .
They even film in real life races like the Boston marathon .
So you can go and you can do the Boston marathon on your treadmill .
The music is where I would like to see a little bit of improvement .
Currently , the music plays in the background and it consists of preselected playlists , songs that make up different genre stations .
You can change the station through your workout .
But I'd like to see the music integrated in some of the classes , like the studio classes , so you can hear it with the instructor .
And I think this , this can help add to the overall energy of the workout , especially for the indoor filmed classes .
But overall I fit is one of the top training platforms and it's definitely worth checking out when you purchase the Nordic track 17 50 .
All right .

You've got a lot of great content coming your way So I am going to start .
I'm on a flat , I'm at a flat grade right now .
Just at three MPH .
It's a casual walking pace .
All right , let's bump it up to six MPH and here's nine MPH .
Ok .
I'm back to just that three MPH .
Now , let's decline the debt to that negative 3% .
I think it's fully declined .
It's so quiet .
I can hardly hear it .
All right .
Now , let's incline it to that .
12% .
Are you here ?
So here it is at that full 12% .
I'm really impressed with that incline and decline function .
It's really quiet .
I have to look down a lot of the time to see if it's even adjusting .
But overall the 17 50 is pretty quiet .
Now , our tallest reviewer Matt is going to hop on the Nordic trek 17 50 .
Here he is walking at three MPH jogging at six MPH .
Thanks for watching .
Our review of the 2023 model of the Nordic track 17 50 .
Some things that we really like is that the 14 inch touch screen is enabled with I fit and can be used for training on and off the treadmill .
Plus with I fit the treadmill will automatically adjust for hands free training and the 17 50 is perfect for users of all abilities and can handle a lot of use .
The motor is quiet and powerful and the incline and decline have been improved to be really quiet , which makes the 17 50 appropriate for most home spaces .
The deck is really great for most running strides yet it's a little more compact to fit better in more homes .
And the deck also folds up when you're not using it to save a lot of space .
Also in the deck , the cushioning is my favorite .
It's soft and forgiving .
So this is a great choice if you have joint discomfort when running and the console is streamlined , yet functional and it's stable .
So you don't really have to worry about screen wall .
Some things to keep in mind is that the incline range is only up to 12% from the previous 15% still provides a good range and is certainly challenging .
But we'd like to see it upgraded to 15% on future models .
The deck also might be a little too narrow for some , especially if you prefer a little bit more room to move around with wise overall though the 17 50 continues to be one of our top recommended treadmills .
Even through various upgrades , it's because it's stable .
It handles a lot of use .
It's quiet , functional , comfortable and now a little more compact to work better in more homes .
