The northeast is bracing for more rain just after a storm overwhelmed parts of the region with heavy flooding .
Some areas were pounded with about two months of rain in two days .
Meg Oliver reports from Barry Vermont after a harrowing couple of days .

Good morning .
The good news , flood waters are receding across the state but the damage is extensive .
Take a look behind me at this car dealership where you can see the concrete has buckled , almost throwing that jeep into the river below Vermont's capital was underwater .
Tuesday as crews rescued more than 100 people from submerged cars and homes .
She's on the third floor .
We can't get over there in downtown Mott plier people kayak through the waist high water .

That's how Lina Hana was reunited with her bearded dragon that was left at home when she evacuated .
Oh , she's great .
I'm thankful for all the help of the community .
Honestly , I never expected this .
In Ludlow , Vermont , residents are picking through the remains of what the receiving water left behind .
More than six inches of rain pummeled the city in just two days .
Entire roads turned to mud .
This railroad track was left dangling across the divide after the ground under it washed away .
How did the flood water ?

It was probably me .
Andrew Mulan's restaurant .
Sam's steakhouse is full of mud and debris .
After flooding Monday , all our chairs all over the place tables flipped .
It was total .
It was a mess in there .
Now overnight , we did hear a good development about that dam that was threatening to overflow near Mount Plier .
The water there is receding Anne Murray .
So we got a little taste of how people are dealing with the aftermath .
You know , what are they saying to you ?
Oh , Anne Marie , it has been devastating this morning as residents come out of their homes to survey the damage .
There was one gentleman who was walking by our live shot on his way to work and he was telling us stories of crying kids who were being rescued from flooded out homes yesterday and put in rescue boats .
And then he returned just a few minutes later and I asked him where he was going and he said he just got laid off from work because the company that he works for this granite company just beyond those trees is completely devastated .
So these people are really hurting .
It's going to be a long road to recovery .
