Today .
Let's talk about air tags .
Apple air tags are here to help you keep track of your stuff or if you lose an item to help you find it .
I'm going to walk you through how to set up and use an Apple air tag .
But before we jump in , please take a moment and subscribe to the how to do it all channel for more how to videos that now cover a SMS board of topics .
So Apple's air tags are a beacon style disk that you attach to an item .
They work similarly to tiles , trackers and Samsung's Galaxy smart tags .
Air tags can help you find lost items like your keys , backpack , umbrella and more by tracking them with Apple , find my Bluetooth network which has nearly one billion devices on it worldwide .
That's a couple more than , than I have .
I'll be honest .
Ok .
The first thing you need to do in order to set up is have an iphone running ios 14.5 or newer or an ipad running ipad OS 14.5 or newer .
Next after you unbox your air tag , remove the plastic wrapper and pull out the battery tag end .
When you do , you'll hear a beep .
Next , bring your air tag near your iphone or ipad .
A window will pop up on the bottom of the screen with an animation of the air tag .
Tap the connect button at the bottom .
It's kind of like setting up a pair of air pods .
Actually , it's exactly like setting up a pair of air pods .
Ok .
Next , you'll be prompted to select a name for the air tag .
There's a list of either names to choose from or you can enter your own custom name like custom .
That would be stupid .
Don't do that .
Next , you'll be prompted to enable additional air tag features by sharing this iphone's location .
Tap , use this iphone .
A prompt will appear verifying that you're going to register the air tag to your apple ID and that's it .
That's it for the set up .
Really ?
I mean , ok , if you don't have IOS 14.5 installed , when you go to pair your air ta ta , you'll be prompted to download and install it .
All right .
Also , if , if , if for some reason you don't see a pairing window appear when the air tag is next to your iphone or ipad .
Open up the find by app , tap on the items tab and then tap , add new item .
Next tap , add air tag and then you'll be able to start the whole connection process .
Ok .
Look , once you attach an air tag to your item then you're basically ready to go .
Sadly , there isn't a key ring hole in the air tag .
So if you don't want to put it in a pocket or tape it to something , yeah , you're gonna have to buy one of these cases for it .
But that look , that's a whole another video to find your item .
Open up , find my , on your iphone , ipad , mac , ipod touch or go to icloud dot com .
Tap the items tab and select the item you're looking for its current or last known position will be shown on a map .
Also , keep in mind that the air is not a GP tractor and relies on being within Bluetooth range of an iphone or another device using the find my network .
If the object is with you and you still can't find it , you can tap the play sound button and the air tag will play a shine .
You can also ask Siri , hey , Siri , where are my keys looking for ?
Keys ?
And the air tag will play a sound .
It's nearby keys now , hey , Siri , good job .
Glad to be of help .
Now , if you have an iphone 11 or 12 and are within Bluetooth range of your item , you can use a special feature called Precision Finding .
This will guide you step by step to your item and air tag .
Ok .
So open up the find my app , tap on the items tab and select your item next .
If it's available , tap the find button , a dark interface with particles floating in a circle will appear on your iphone screen on the bottom is the distance from your iphone to the item .
Start moving the phone in different directions and it will turn green when it has located the air tag , an arrow along with haptic feedback will guide you in the right direction until you find it .
Now , let's say your item isn't nearby or it's just not showing up on the find my map .
You can place the air tag into loss mode and enter your phone number .
In case someone finds it , you'll get notified once it's in range or has been located by another device on the Find my network .
If someone finds your keys , they can tap the attached air tag with an iphone or Android phone that has NFC .
This will bring up a website with that contact phone number you entered .
If you ever need to rename or remove an air tag from your apple ID .
Open the Find my app tap on items , select the item name of the air tag , then slide the white window up to reveal the rename and remove buttons .
I should say when you remove an air tag , you'll be asked to verify this several times and hit like three different remove buttons .
They just want to make sure , you know , and I think that's , that's probably a good idea .
And guys that's it , look , there are links to air tags and the iphones are used in this video in the description .
They are affiliated links but do help support this channel .
And now I want to hear from you guys .
