Regularly rotating your tires will help even out their varied wear patterns over time .
It also extends the life of your tires and helps maximize the tread , providing more control in rain or snow .
Here's a list of supplies you'll need to do your own tire rotation .
First , determine whether you have directional or non directional tires .
As this will determine your rotation method , we'll be rotating directional tires which means they can only rotate in one direction .
So they must remain on the same side of the vehicle but can be moved from front to back .
Non directional tires can be rotated all the way around the vehicle to help minimize wear .
Once the vehicle is parked on level concrete , engage the emergency brake , then working your way around the vehicle loosen the lug nuts on all the wheels but do not remove them completely .
Next at the front end slide , a jack into position under a factory recommended lift point and raise the car until the front tires just cleared the ground .
Continue to raise the car until it clears the height of the jack stands place the stand into position under the car near the front wheel .
Repeat the action on the rear of the vehicle , then lowered the car to rest on the stands and lock them into place .
Starting on one side of the vehicle , remove both the front and rear tires , then swap them so that the tire on the rear is now on the front and vice versa , tires into place so that they fit securely over the wheel bolts , finger tightened the lug nuts .
Next , you can lower the vehicle , raise the car off the jack stands and remove them .
Then slowly lower the car to the ground and remove the jack .
Finally use the lug wrench to tightly secure nuts to make sure the wheels mount evenly .
Do this in a star pattern .
Put your body weight behind the wrench to get a snug fit , rotating your own tires is not only a great way to make them last longer .
It'll save you money too .
Good luck .
