How to Draw a Koala

Hi , Katie's Wendy here today .

We're gonna draw a koala .

So let's get started to draw this koala .

Let's start by drawing its nose .

So I'm gonna come right here and draw a curve .

So this is gonna be the top of my koala's nose and I'm going to bring it down .

So I'm giving it a pretty prominent size nose and about right there .

I'm gonna start to curve in for the bottom of the nose and I'm aiming towards the center to curve back up .

So now that we have the nose in , let's come over here and we're gonna draw the eyes next to the nose .

So say about right here , I'm just gonna give myself a point and from there , I'm gonna draw a circle and same thing on this side .

So about right here , draw another circle from there .

Let's come in here and make them draw CQ I .

So we're gonna get two small circles for highlights inside and a curve line at the bottom and shade in the top and lines at the bottom and same thing over here .

OK .

So the eyes in and then let's see , let's come above each eye and we're gonna draw a small little curve above each eye and then at the bottom right here , right in the center , I'm gonna draw a very small line straight down the center , very short .

And then right under the nose that's straw a mouth .

So it's just a very slight curve right under the nose and you can cap it off on the edge there .

Ok .

So you know what , I'm gonna come , come in here and just shade this in .

So it's just a little bit easier to see and make it all black .

And then when I color it in , I'm gonna give a little gray highlight at the top , but just gonna shade it in all black so you can see a little bit better for now .

OK .

There , there's a koala , right ?

OK .

So then let's come to the side , we're gonna start to draw the face around it .

So let's come to the side of the eyes kind of where the eyebrow is and let's see about right here .

I'm gonna start to kind of draw a wide bottom of a U .

So same thing on this side and we're gonna come really close to where the mouth is right under the mouth .

It about right there and connect there .

OK .

So we framed the face in .

So let's bring this up a little bit more , just bring it in and then we're just gonna imagine this as a curve like squashed oval .

So say about right here .

I'm gonna start about right here .

Continuing .

And I'm just gonna draw a curve right in the center .

But if you're using a pencil , go ahead and finish this curve .

OK .

So I have my center curve in now , I can start to draw the ears .

So I'm gonna come about right here and start the first ear .

I'm gonna come up and they're very fluffy ears , right , very furry , fluffy ears .

So I'm gonna start to draw some soft zigzags as they come around .

So that's just kind of a little bit rounder .

And then we come down here all the way and then for some details inside , let's come right here .

I'm just gonna draw some zig zags as well and then to finish it off , let's bring in a curve right here , just continuing this curve and then maybe just draw another layer of fur .

OK ?

So the same thing on this side .

So just gonna drag this point across .

So I kind of know where I'm gonna end and let's see here , but right there .

So start and let's , it won't be the same .

I'm just trying to approximate size , same size .

So it's about my how high to go and we're gonna start to zigzag all the way back to this point .

So once again , zig zag sometimes a curve and just bring it all the way back .

OK ?

And then once again , same thing on the inside curve and then to finish it off , curve down here and , and there .

OK .

So we're done with our head right here .

So then now let's start to draw the cute little body .

So I'm gonna come right here .

I'm just gonna imagine this curve continuing .

So the arm is gonna come out about right here .

So it's gonna be coming out about right here , the curve and I'm going to bring it in and then let's draw it back right here .

So say about in this area , a job curve .

So pretty much the same level now we can start to work .

Let's see , let's bring this in a little bit more and bring this around .

OK ?

So then before we finish this part , let's come back up here and we're going to draw a curve about in this area .

So about right here .

I'm gonna draw the curve right in here .

So it's gonna be the beginning of our legs .

OK ?

Let's bring this down .

I bring this around and then from there , we're gonna draw the feet .

So come out right here , we're gonna curve and bring it in .

So I'm definitely simplifying the feet to make a bit easier to draw , just bring that little curve in and then now we can finish this curve .

So we're gonna bring all the way down nice little bottom .

But before I do that , so I know where to end , I'm going to draw the koala on a tree .

So just gonna kind of imagine this tree is coming through here .

So I'm gonna add a curve right here .

So this would be my guide .

I'm gonna make sure I have a curve right here .

So I don't have to draw too much of the other side of the koala and using this as my guide .

I'm just gonna kind of bring this through right here for my tree .

So then I know where to bring this into .

So right there , just tuck it in and then just imagine this curve coming through .

Uh Let's see about right here .

I'll come , pop it right back up and before I forget , let's come back right here .

I know you guys are screaming at me .

Don't forget to add three little spikes for his nails .

That's right here as well .

Pair three little triangles and on the feet as well .

And of course , we add a little heart right here to make it my uh koala and then let's finish the tree .

So I'm not gonna make the tree trunk too thick .

So I'm gonna use this as my guy where the hand is .

I'm gonna say about this thickness .

So I'm gonna use as my guide and then let's see here , let's bring it in .

Um Before I finish it , I'm gonna pop out a little branch right here so that it's not so stiff so that little branch it's all up to you .

So right there , you continue this curve and as I come down here , it's gonna be a little bit thicker so I can just end it and let's bring this up .

So kind of following that .

So it's gonna go the ear and maybe you can break it off right here so we can finish it up and say about right here .

Just add a little brick in the tree and then from there , let's draw some leaves .

So just to simplify it , let's add three leaves .

Yeah , to add some color to this drawing .
