Hi guys .
Um Welcome to part two of the four by four specific instructions on how to do the edges .
Uh Part one , we already did the centers .
As you can see , the centers are all done .
Now , we're only gonna be focusing on the edge pieces .
We have to match these edge pieces with their partner .
Uh So we can basically treat it like a three by three .
All of this will be done intuitively .
Um There is one algorithm in the event we run into one situation that you'll have to learn a new algorithm and it's a pretty easy one .
So I wouldn't worry about that .
Um Let's go ahead and , and get right into this .
You can grab the cube and start anywhere .
I , what I like to do is make sure that all four images that I'm working with are not paired up .
So none of these are paired up .
So I'm most likely I'm gonna run into at least one couple that need to get married .
So you've got the yellow and blue is trying to find uh his partner and there she is the yellow and blue there .
So we're gonna go ahead and um whenever you find one here and find one here , you want to line them up like this .
OK ?
So it's intuitive , all I'm gonna do is move this over like this , right ?
So I can get the partner over to this side because I want to line up one edge piece here and the other ps edge piece has to be here or vice versa like this or like this .
OK ?
So in this case , I just put it there on the exact same line .
So in order to fix that , that's a very , very common thing that you're gonna run into quite a bit .
All you have to do is move this side up right .
Then you're gonna move this guy down like this and then turn your cube back this way and then bring this back up and there it is .
See you right there .
That's all you gotta do .
It's a pretty simple move .
We're gonna do that over and over and over again .
So um don't worry about it if you didn't get it just now , now that you've got it like this as a diagonal , what we are going to do is bring this over and now they're married , you're gonna marry them together , move it out of the way , get it up to the top here , but you have to replace it with something .
So we're gonna turn this and replace it with these two unmarried people .
Bring them down and now we have to fix this .
Get my yellow back or get my centers back because my centers were out of whack .
And there you go .
Now , where's our couple ?
Our happy couple is right here .
So that's one that's done .
Now , I'm not gonna work this side because um , these guys are here .
So let's get them out of the way .
I like this side .
You have a bunch of singles .
Ok , let's try to find another couple and marry them .
So I've got a uh let's see .
Let's see if any of these match .
Here we go .
There's a green and yellow and here's a green and yellow .
All I have to do is flip the cube and they're all ready diagonal from each other exactly where I need them to be .
So I'm gonna do the same move , move this over to the side .
So they're now together .
Now you see I messed up my , my centers , right ?
So I'm gonna have to move this back at some point once I match it .
All I'm gonna do is move this out of the way .
So I'm gonna move it up to the top and I have to replace it with something .
So I'll take these two , I just turned it around and let's bring this back down and now let's fix our centers .
See that OK ?
And I'm gonna explain the replacing um that I don't want that to confuse you .
Um So now we've got another happy couple .
Where are they ?
They're right there .
There's our happy couple .
Number two .
This is our happy couple .
Number one .
And let's keep marrying everyone .
And let me tell you , marriage is very important .
And , uh , for those of you who aren't married and , uh , make sure you choose wisely and you , you need to be equally yoked in marriage and your marriage will go well .
And of course you need to , uh , follow the Lord and know the Lord and your marriage will be strong if it's got that foundation .
So that's just a little , little something there extra for you guys .
OK .
Let's find some more pieces .
OK ?
So I'm gonna spin this around here .
Uh We can work on anywhere in the cube .
So don't think like you gotta stay somewhere .
You don't , you can go anywhere .
So let's go here .
Um Like I was saying earlier , I don't want any married pieces yet since there's so many singles , I'll just move that out of the way .
I got singles here .
I got singles here .
I got singles here and I got singles here .
I wanna make sure that this isn't going out of focus .
I've got it a manual focus .
I think I'm good .
Ok .
So um I've got a blue and let's see none of those match .
Oh , here we go .
Here's a blue and red and here is a blue and red .
See that ?
Ok .
So I got a balloon right here and a blue and red here .
I need to bring this one over here somehow .
So I'll move that over .
OK ?
And let's bring it down .
That's it .
So now I've got them actually on the same line .
So I've got to make that move that we talked about earlier .
OK ?
All I gotta do is move this up .
So I'm getting him out of the way and then I'm going to bring this one down and I kind of turn the cube sometimes like this .
See , OK ?
And then I got to bring this up .
I'm gonna show you guys how to do that move again .
Um I'm running out of battery , so I'm gonna have to change my battery right now .
But uh now it's lined up if I do it again , I just move this up , turn the face this way .
OK ?
But now I turn my cube like this and you know , our piece is down here now .
So all you got to do is bring it up , see now they're matching again and just do that move again .
OK ?
Move this up .
So our piece is here , right ?
See , and then I'm gonna move this over here .
Move this guy down here .
OK .
Our piece is over here .
Now I just turn my cube this way .
So it's facing the right way again and then bring this up and there he is and now it's diagonal .
That's the move I'm going to do the move two more times .
OK .
Move it up , turn , turn my cube , bring it .
Now they're matching again .
Do it again .
Turn like this and bring it up and now they're where they're supposed to be .
Let's go ahead and marry them quickly .
Um There you go .
Boom .
Now they're married .
I'm gonna bring it up here .
I have to replace this because I have to bring this back down so I can't replace it with a married couple .
So that's not gonna work .
So keep going .
There are some singles and let's bring the singles down and let's let's fix our middle boom .
Make sure your centers are all good .
Ok , give me a second .
I'm gonna change the battery .
Ok .
So now let's find another uh edge piece to marry edge pieces .
Uh We've got uh let's see here .
I see .
Orange and white and orange and white .
Now let's say this happens every once in a while .
You've got all of these single edge pieces and none of them match up then just go to the next one and see if any of those match up .
I've got a blue and orange .
Let's see , I don't see blue and orange .
So you just kind of look for them .
Here , here is blue and orange and blue and orange .
See , so you want to look for those .
Um I can search for something else .
I just go like that .
There's uh orange and green .
Let's see if there's any orange and green .
I don't see orange and green .
Um But you just look , you guys probably see some , look , here's a red and yellow and here's a red and yellow and see how I'm turning this around doesn't matter where you're holding it once you're , when you're looking for edge pieces to match up .
So , um our centers are good .
Let's go ahead and match some pieces up .
So let's go ahead and do this .
You've got the yellow and red and you have a yellow and red here .
So I'm gonna spin this top part .
So it's over here on this um side and I'm gonna bring it down and then now it's already crossed from each other .
So they're lined up perfectly .
Now , by the way , um You don't have to always go this way so I can turn this like this and marry the pieces that way .
So on this side and then I can go ahead and now bring this up .
So it's the same thing that we did on the other side and then you gotta turn it and replace it , but I can't replace it with these two because they're already married .
So let's turn it to this side here .
These guys are single , let's bring them down and now let's fix our centers .
Oops , we went the other wrong way , fix our centers .
There they go .
So make sure that the centers are all fixed .
OK ?
So now as you can see , you you have a lot of married couples and as you get more and more married couples , you're gonna run into a situation with who do you replace it with ?
Because there's not a lot to replace , but we'll run into that .
We'll talk about that a little bit more once we get there .
Ok , let's look at some more uh options .
All of these are single .
So that's cool .
I like to work with that .
Let's see if we find any that match .
I've got a green and white , uh blue and white , orange and white .
I don't see any that match right now .
So I'll go ahead and spin this around but there's , these are married .
So there's not much to spin here .
Let me turn this upside down and we're working on these right now .
Let's see if we can find any that match .
So I'll spin this up here .
I've got a green and , and orange and do we have a green and orange anywhere ?
No .
Um Are these all complete down here ?
They're not ?
Ok .
So now I've got all of these are single pieces .
So that's cool .
Let's try to find ones that match uh uh right there and right in front of my face , I've got white and blue .
You guys are probably saying it's right there .
It's right there .
There's white and blue .
Now what happens when they're on the same line ?
You've got to do this move .
Remember you move this up here .
So it's up there .
Now we're gonna turn the face this way and then we turn the cube back .
So this is facing you and then we're gonna bring this piece up again and now they're cross from each other .
OK .
That's a move that you have to learn .
So practice it .
It's really super easy .
All right , now we do our move .
I'm gonna move this over here and now they're married .
Let's bring it up to the top .
I still have uh a couple of single pieces here so I can replace that right here .
We replace it with the single pieces , bring it back down and let's fix our centers and all , let's do a check and make sure all our centers are checked out .
Yes , they are .
Cool .
Now , let's look for more single pieces .
So I'm looking for the through the cube .
Hey , settle down dogs .
I'm looking through , they saw a squirrel .
I'm looking for more .
Those are married .
Those are married and those are single .
Cool .
So now I've got single pieces here , single pieces here .
These are married .
Let's see if I can find single pieces .
Yes , single pieces here and single pieces here .
Just like I like it .
Now , that gives me more options to find their mates .
So let's see who we can marry right now .
We've got um we have yellow and orange and we have yellow and orange .
No , I see green and white right here .
It is green and white .
Yes , there's a green and white right here .
See green and white and green and white .
Ok .
So I'm gonna spin this around , bring the white piece back down .
So there it is green and white , green and white .
They're all matched up ready to go .
I hope I didn't do that too fast .
I think you guys are getting it .
I mean , that's pretty intuitive .
Just get them on , get them on the same , you know , opposite sides , right ?
And if they match you do that move and if they're already like uh diagonal , then you're ready to go .
Ok .
So we're gonna go ahead and marry them there they are .
Now we're gonna bring it up and we need to replace that .
We can't replace with these guys because they're married .
So keep going .
We were we , we will replace it with this right here .
Bring it back down and let's fix our centers .
OK ?
Let's keep doing more edge pieces .
Um You guys should be getting it by now .
Um uh These are unmarried , unmarried , unmarried and married .
Cool .
So we should have , oh look what I saw , I saw red and white and a red and white .
So I'm just gonna flip the cube this way .
I always like it to be looking at me this way and uh we need to bring this down here , right ?
So let's do that move again .
We're gonna move it up , we're gonna turn the face this way .
So this one's down here and there's our other piece up here .
Now we just turn the cube .
So this is facing me and then our pieces down here and we're gonna bring it up .
Ok ?
Now we've got them diagonal red and white , red and white .
Let's go ahead and marry those two pieces .
There they are .
We'll bring it up , let's replace it with unmarried pieces right here .
Replace that , bring it back down and fix our center .
OK ?
Now we're getting somewhere .
Let's uh pick , pick up the pace a little bit .
Uh These guys are married .
So let's see .
Married , married , married , they're all married .
So when I've got them all married on one side , I'm just gonna put it down here .
So the married pieces are down .
I've got unmarried , unmarried and unmarried .
Now we're down to only three edge edges that we can work with .
As we get closer to solving .
I already see orange and white and orange and white .
So let's do that move .
And as you start getting better at this , you're gonna start doing this move like this where you move it and you turn the cube as you turn this at the same time .
See that .
Um And then you bring this up and now they're diagonal .
Let's go ahead and put those together .
I haven't had so many where I can turn it this way .
I'm gonna see if I can do that .
Let , let let's just do that , see how this is diagonal .
You don't have to go this way .
You can go this way if you want and match them this way .
See that , and then I'm gonna bring it up to the top , but before I bring it up to the top , so they're married on this side now , it doesn't matter which , which side you marry .
I'm on , I'm gonna look and see if I have any single pieces .
These are married , married , married .
So if I bring this up , this , this is my only single uh , couple but not really a couple , my single people .
So I'm gonna move it out of the way first .
Then I'm gonna bring this up .
Now I'll bring it up .
Now I'll replace that married couple .
We just married with the single people .
Let's bring down the single people and now we fix our centers .
Uh , oh , did I mess up my centers ?
Where's the center ?
All right , because we went the other way .
Sorry .
There we go and make sure that the centers are all good .
They are .
Ok .
So let's keep going .
Um , hopefully I didn't confuse you guys .
I just wanted to let you know you can marry him to this side or you can marry him to this side .
It doesn't matter .
Um , I like going to the left if at all possible .
It's just what I like .
All right .
So all of these are married .
I'm gonna put those at the bottom .
These are married .
Boy , I did , I just marry them all .
I think I just did it .
Oh , no , here's some singles and there's probably one more set of singles .
Where's the other singles ?
Oh , there they are right here .
See , so you've got these guys and you've got these guys bring them up , match them up .
Now , it looks like these two .
I like to grab these two .
The , the , these are single and these are single .
I like to grab these and kind of explore and see is everybody else married .
It looks like they're all married except for these two , these two couples that is .
So we want to see how these are lined up diagonally and this one red and green is lined up diagonally .
Um That's how you would normally do it .
But when there's only two left , these belong together and these belong together , you have to get them to match and do an algorithm .
OK ?
Sometimes you'll get all of the edge pieces without the algorithm .
Like it could all be done .
But in this scenario , which is good because I wanna show you this scenario .
I , you've got only four pieces left to do and um you can't replace them with anything else because everybody else is married .
So there's no more replacement pieces .
OK ?
So we're gonna do that same move right .
I need to move this guy um here .
So because he's diagonal , but I have to get him on the same line to do this algorithm .
So let's go ahead and you do your move there .
We're gonna bring this down here , right ?
We move it .
We're focusing on this piece right here .
Bring it up .
And now these two pieces are across from each other and these two pieces , green and red , green and red are across from each other .
Now that you have it in this state , we're gonna do this algorithm and I'll put it up on the screen super easy .
And this is the way you should memorize it double DRF prime U .
And then there's another guy who responds .
So um basically think of it as two people .
One guy says double DRF prime U and then the other guy says R prime F , double D prime .
So it's double D .
So you're taking the two down uh um do two down size and you're turning at once .
So you're going double D R right here .
You're rotating the right side clockwise is all clockwise .
Double DRF prime prime is counterclockwise is the face F prime , double DRF prime , U is clockwise .
U is on the upside double DRF prime U .
Now the next one is R prime counterclockwise F double D prime .
And you see what happens this is together and these are together double DRF prime Ur prime F , double D prime .
So that's how you memorize it .
Say it again , R prime F double D prime .
Oops , that's the second part .
Sorry guys .
Double DRF prime , Ur prime F double D prime .
Now , what happens if you do that again , if we do that algorithm again , we'll actually unm marry these guys .
So let's go ahead and divorce these two couples just for a little bit and then we'll get them married again .
OK .
Just do the algorithm again .
Double DRF prime U R prime F , double D prime .
Boom .
Divorced .
Here they are .
I mean , here they are .
They're actually across from each other .
Green and red , green and red , orange and green , orange and green .
Let's do it again .
Now we're taking our time here .
Remember because this is to learn how to do the edge pieces , double DRF prime .
U now remember we got to line them up .
They're already lined up .
I know I'm repeating myself .
But I just want you guys to remember that if they're across from each other , you gotta fix that .
All right .
So we're gonna do double D R F prime , you our prime F , double D prime .
Boom .
And now they're married .
That's it guys .
Now we are ready to solve this like a three by three and go straight to the Daisy .
You can see all the edge pieces are done .
All your centers are done when you have it in this state .
You're like , yeah , I am ready to roll and you do your Daisy , then you get do your cross and then you do the um F three L in this case .
Ok , guys , that's it for this video .
Thanks for watching .
