Hey guys , it is Ryan Jones here .
This is How to play Happy by Pharrell .
I got a few requests in for this one .
So I'm going to teach you the two parts that you need to know for this song .
The first part is going to sound like this , right ?
You like my little singing there ?
And then the second part is during the main chorus line when you sing Happy .
All right .
So let's look at the left hand base for the first part .
That's kind of how it's gonna sound .
All right .
So we're gonna start on this F here and we're gonna go to a flat back to F All right .
So we've got flat .
All right .
So again , from the beginning , then we go to a flat , see a flat , a flat , a flat , a flat F .
All right .
So at a slow pace , this is how it goes .
OK ?
A little bit faster .
Let's try again .
All right .
And something that I do here to make it sound a little bit cooler .
I play .
Basically , these are like little accidentals , kind of like that between the notes .
All right .
All right .
Now , let's look at the cords that the right hand is gonna be filling in here .
All right .
So this first chord , this is an F minus seven that's just inverted .
So we've got a flat ce flat and F now here , uh basically , we just release that top up .
So this just simply becomes an a flat major chord .
Now , when the left hand gets the B flat , the right hand simply plays a B flat major chord .
So B flat DNF , all right .
So from the beginning , now when the left hand plays C , that's when the right hand plays the C major chord .
OK .
So , so far , we've got the F minor seven , a flat major , we flat major major .
Now , here we're gonna play be Fight major again .
And then here at the very end , this is actually an F seven .
So this is an F dominant seven chord .
Um You can see that instead of the thumb playing a flat , we're gonna be playing a which makes it the F major and then the E flat makes it dominant .
So this is just an inverted F seven corr , right ?
So all together at a slow pace , this is how it goes are a little bit faster .
OK .
I'll , I'll do it a little bit faster this next time .
And I'll be playing the left hand with the little accidentals like this .
All right .
So that part is gonna take a little bit of practice .
And then when you get to the main chorus line of the song .
It's , uh , kind of sound like dish .
This part is pretty easy .
So , basically what we're playing here in the right hand is a C# major seven cord or D flat , major seven .
All right .
So we've got D flat fa flat and C and so the left hand is just gonna simply play the baseline like this .
All right .
So both hands together .
Now , this next chord is ac minor seven cordon and the left hand is going to do the same pattern .
But this time with CG and C , all right .
And we , and we played this chord twice .
So let's go back to the beginning here , here's the first time , here's the second time and then we end with this .
Um This is just an inverted F seven again .
So this is an F major chord but it's , it's dominant .
So it's , it's an F seven chord and the left hand is gonna play FC and F .
So this is an inversion of the chord .
All right .
So , all together , it's like this .
All right .
So those are the two main piano parts that you need to know for Happy by Pharrell .
Hopefully that guys uh helps you out .
It's kind of a cool little riff there to play anyway , regardless .
Um So have fun with that guys .
Leave your request below .
Give it a thumbs up if it helps you out and I'll see you guys in the next lesson .
