Hello and welcome back to in the kitchen with Matt .
I am your host Matt Taylor today .
I'm gonna show you how to make German pancakes .
Breakfasts are one of my favorite things to make .
And German pancakes were actually one of the first things I learned how to make .
Uh when I was a young lad , learning to cook , they do go by other names , Dutch Babies and then their Finnish pancake as well .
Uh Whatever you call them super easy to do .
Really ?
Yummy .
Let's get started first .
Let's preheat the oven to 400 °F .
Now I'm gonna start with six eggs , put them in a large bowl .
And then to that , I'm gonna add one cup of milk .
You can use 1% 2% whole milk .
And I'm gonna come in here and just give this a good whisk and you could do this in a blender if you like as well .
And then to this , we'll add one cup of flour , one half teaspoon of salt and that is it for the batter .
If you want this a little bit more sweet , you can add like a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla extract .
But this is the basic recipe .
Let's go ahead and mix this together .
All right , when you're done , it'll be nice and runny like that .
And now what we do is we take a 13 by nine baking dish and we take two tablespoons of butter .
I'm gonna go ahead and put that right in there and then we're gonna put this in the oven and let the butter melt completely and then we'll take it out , the hot pan will be hot and we'll add our batter right in there .
All right and then after about a minute or so we'll take our pan out , make sure you use a hot mint and make sure the butter gets moved around a little bit and then we're gonna take our batter and pour it right in the middle and we'll go ahead and put this back in the oven and we'll bake it for 20 minutes to 22 minutes until the sides come up .
The batter is gonna go up the sides and get it golden brown .
It's gonna look really cool .
Alright , timers done .
Alright .
And then we take them out , it'll look like that really cool .
Look out the golden brown on the edges and then you just top them off however you like with powdered sugar syrup , whipped cream , uh fruit uh whatever you like to do and as you see it's gonna start to go back down um fall back down and that's totally ok .
Supernatural .
All right , our German pancakes are done .
Turned out amazing .
Super easy to do if I can do it .
You can do it .
