What scared everybody .
Now , today's video is a little different generally , in most of my weight loss related videos , I'm always giving you all instructions and I'm telling you all what to do and what not to do and you know , the correct kind of dieting and all that .
Now , I've already covered all that in a bunch of my videos .
So I'm going to link those in the description below .
But today's video is about something much more important than that .
Today's video is about the psychological aspect of losing weight .
Now , I've not been obese but I've been fat myself and I understand the mentality of anyone who's even kind of overweight and who's trying to lose weight .
I've been in your position and I understand what you're going through .
I understand the fight that you're fighting and I've gone from there to running my own fitness blog .
And moreover , I've also been a fitness coach and I've helped a lot of people with their own weight loss journeys recently .
I've been helping my but lose weight as a fitness coach , I've helped a lot of people lose weight and the one thing I feel that's most needed in your weight loss process is the correct mentality .
That's what you need .
Now , these aren't the exact rules , but I've tried to break down the correct mentality into three understandable points .
Firstly , I feel that your biggest weapon in this fight towards losing weight is conscious efforts .
Now , when we were kids in school , absolutely , no one wanted to study if we could , everyone would want to watch TV , or play on the PlayStations and not touch their books at all .
But the kids who did well , that's what they did different .
They made conscious efforts to do well , when they were watching TV , during the exam time , they figured that ok , if I keep watching TV , my marks are going to get affected and they made the conscious effort to get up from that TV set and go to their room and study and that extra effort paid off in the long term .
They got better grades .
The same concepts apply when you're losing weight you're working towards becoming the best version of yourself .
Now , keep in mind that the human brain is made to go on the path of least resistance always .
Now what comes naturally to you , a human being is that you want to select the path of least resistance .
If you could , you just want to be on a beach having beers and margaritas and butter chicken all day .
Now keep in mind that if you actually succumb to that path of least resistance feeling you're never gonna get results .
If you want to get results , if you wanna get slightly better grades in that game of losing weight , you're gonna have to make conscious efforts .
Whether it's your diet or your exercise , it has to come internally from you .
Your weight loss game is going to be full of choices .
It's always going to be between that grilled chicken and those greens and that bag of chocolates for you .
And when you decide internally that , OK , I don't need those chocolates and those chocolates are holding me back from my goals .
That's when you're going to get progress .
Remember , guys losing weight is a long term game and the more conscious efforts you make towards a better physique , the more mentally strong you will get and eventually the easier it will get for you to make those conscious efforts .
It starts with that first step .
When you have the choice between having a dessert and having something healthier just to fill your stomach instead of that dessert , choose the healthy option , you're becoming mentally stronger , you're giving your brain a workout and that's the most important thing .
Fitness isn't just about looking good .
It's about mental discipline .
It's about creating that mental discipline to make yourself more at peace with who you are when you have a goal in terms of fitness and when your conscious efforts are moving you towards that best version of yourself .
It's one of the best feelings in the world , you need to be working for that .
Ok .
So the second aspect to losing weight is the correct outlook .
You need to stop getting bored of the process .
When I was losing weight , every kg that I lost , felt like a level up in a video game .
That's kind of how you need to look at it .
I'm sick of everyone , you know who's trying to lose weight .
They get super demotivated if their scale doesn't move or you know , if they don't see the results that they want in the mirror , you need to understand that losing weight isn't just about numbers or about how you look .
It's about who you are becoming in the process , instead of looking at it as a punishment .
Look at it as a blessing .
20 years back there weren't all these products to help you with your weight loss .
There weren't any weight loss services and most of all there wasn't all this information that's available to you .
In 2016 , you're living in a blessed and the world is trying to help you move towards a better version of you use whatever you want to motivate yourself , but just stay positive throughout the process .
Remember , it's not about the end point , it's about who you are becoming through the process .
That's the most important thing you need to enjoy the journey .
So six months into it , if you're not getting results and your weight loss plateaus , you shouldn't stop even if your weight loss is plateauing , you keep doing what you're doing , try to scientifically approach your problems .
Look into it , go deeper , do research , figure out what's causing your weight loss plateau and get beyond it .
When you enjoy the process , you're able to stick to the process longer .
And most importantly , you're never gonna get demotivated about losing weight .
OK .
The third and final point create a balance between what you're doing .
Now , a lot of people ask me why I call my channel be biceps .
The main reason is that I believe in a health and fun balance .
You can't have a fit lifestyle .
24 7 , 365 days of the year , there have to be days where you kind of let loose and have fun .
Now , the key is to find a balance .
If you want to look great .
If you want that dream body , you need to make those conscious efforts to eat healthier and go and exercise .
But what's as important is that once in a while , you need to take a step back if you're craving a pastry or a burger or a pizza , go and have those things .
Don't worry about the long term game .
If you know , for most of the time you're eating healthy , that one dirty meal isn't going to take you that far behind if you're really craving something , I really feel like you should give into it .
Remember what I believe the most in my life when it comes to fitness is that it's a long term game .
And the only way a long-term game is sustainable is if you're also enjoying the process , if you eat clean continuously for 20 days , if you're not enjoying those meals on the 21st day , you're gonna crash and burn , you're gonna end up binge eating and that's gonna take away from all the progress you've got in those 20 days .
Remember , it's not always about counting your macros and lifting all those heavy weights .
You are human and embrace that concept of the path of least resistance once in a while just to keep yourself sane .
