How to make Caramel Syrup for Coffee

Hi , everyone .

This is Stephanie Manley with copycat dot com .

This is one of my learn to cook series of videos where I'm going to show you how to make caramel sauce .

You know , just like the kind you put in coffee .

All right .

So this recipe is really easy .

Two ingredients , a little bit of technique we have in here , 1.5 cups of sugar and we are going to heat it up until it starts to turn like a golden yellow color or caramel .

And then we're gonna add some very hot boiling water .

We're gonna stir it together .

You know what ?

That's all there is to caramel sauce .

So why buy it when you can make it from scratch ?

OK .

Just as soon as all of the sugar gets dissolved in here .

This is when we're gonna go ahead and very carefully , put our very hot , almost boiling water in here .

We just have just a couple more seconds to go and we'll be ready to make caramel syrup .

All right .

So we've just finished making our caramel syrup .

I went ahead and poured it in a clear dish so you could see it .

You know what it looks like .

Very close to this .

Uh , one I paid for at the store .

This was about eight bucks .

This took about , I don't know , 50 cents of that .

So I'm gonna go ahead and pour it into my coffee here .

Give it a quick little stir and we'll try this .

This is a very nice caramel flavor and you saw how quickly you could put that together .

I'm gonna go ahead and store this in my refrigerator and I'm gonna use it in my coffee this next week .
