Making Mexican Tissue Paper Flowers

So now we're gonna make a Mexican paper flour .

Um Before we start , we're going to show you that we have about eight sheets of different colored tissue paper .

We've chosen to do a rainbow assortment with green at our base because that's the way a natural flower would be .

But you can do a solid color , you can do any combination of colors .

So you're gonna fold a narrow little fan like under an inch folds , the whole stack at once .

We go back and forth and you want to be neat , but it doesn't need to be absolutely perfect .

Keep going .

So you're all the way done .

Keep pushing your folds down .

Great .

And when you're all finished , smooth it out , all eight sheets , you're gonna find your mid point to the best of your ability .

You're gonna take your green pipe cleaner and you want the green to be on the bottom .

So the short stem goes over the yellow in our case comes down and let's see if we can show how we just wrap it tightly .

OK , up tightly at the bottom .

OK .

Then you can choose to either make a pointy edge or a rounded edge with the rainbow flower .

We found that we really like a pointy edge .

Um with the um with a more soft color flower , we uh like a rounded edge .

So you want to make sure all your folds are smooth and you want to find the shortest color tissue paper you have .

So in our case , it's the yellow and the point should come to the yellow , then you're gonna cut one side of the angle of the point .

It's kind of hard with all those layers of tissue paper and you might turn it over whatever you need to do to cut the other side , turn and point down and cut your fingers .

Advice to both the demonstrator and the listeners .

Now you're going to cut the other side in a point .

Now you're ready .

Oops almost start separating your layers , gonna open it up and very gently one by one , you're gonna peel your layers up .

So first the yellow , you're gonna peel each layer up on this side and then you're gonna peach pee , peel each layer up on the other side and then flush it all together .
