Hey guys , welcome to another salsa lesson .
I'm here with Kiani today and we're gonna teach you a little bit of behind the back tricks and how that uses a spot turn to make it look pretty cool .
So in your salsa hold , we're gonna throw our right hand up and that's going to take her left hand and she's gonna come up and give us some nice arms styling with it .
So we just toss up and just like that she gives us nice arms sting .
I like that one .
Look at that .
Cool .
Huh ?
OK .
So as we do that , the reason I do that is because I need to get back behind her on that side .
So I lift and then I hug .
Ok .
So as you hug when you first do it , I want you to bend down , do whatever you need to to get in there as fast as you can .
But make sure you don't bump heads when you get really good at it , you're going to get straight up and you're gonna have this very close tummy to tummy and not so much head to head .
And that's the difference between professional and amateur , amateurs will get in here and it's all down really low .
Professional .
We're up nice and tall the whole time .
Ok .
So now that you learn how to get in that close , we're gonna take that other arm , we're gonna make it really wide and then back behind the back .
So girls , as they learn how to dance and release that arm , bring it back around .
As the ladies learn how to dance , they learn a few different tricks they learn .
If the arm goes out wide , I should turn with that .
So if the arm goes in , I should turn with that too .
But they also learn if the arm goes on the up rainbow or on the down rainbow .
Yeah , they do some kind of arm sound like that .
So you need to go on the underneath rainbow .
We go underneath and then back behind and that's how we get the arm back there .
Now as a lady let's go and spin around so we can see this .
I don't want the hand to be completely flat on the back and then we are actually going to press against her .
So press against me too .
Press this back that way and not just with the fingers , press with the whole palm .
There we go .
That's gonna give you nice pressure back there , close your fingers up .
Cool .
So go ahead and follow me no matter where my hand goes .
Go there with your hand too .
Follow follow follow , push , push , push , cool .
So work with your lady .
So she understands that and you can go back underneath and bring it back out and she follows you on all of that stuff .
So after you understand that and you understand the arm over here , we're going to combine both of them , we throw that up and we bring the arm back behind both at the same time , ok ?
So we want to do that so fast that we can throw it up , bring it back and then switch hands .
Ok ?
So practice that a few times .
Let's see that in slow motion .
I flick up , I bring it back and I switch right there .
The lady shouldn't really feel a difference back here and notice we're belly to belly .
I'm not bending over and I'm not in her face now that we're here , keep your arm up on that left side , keep it up , up , up .
We want to go so fast because yeah , you know , she brought her arm down .
We want to go so fast .
Go and slowly bring it down .
Yeah , as she's bringing it down , we want to spin her out before she gets it all the way down to her side .
Ok ?
So let's do that again .
So we're here .
We throw the arm up , we go over and we spin her out .
It's very nice .
And the lady you take that left arm and just keeps slowly going down the whole time .
And if I get in your way , then just put it on me .
So have the arm nice and high .
If you keep on going down , if I get in the way , just do a big hug and go all around me .
Yeah , there you go .
So sometimes I might bring the arm up here and then I'm just here and that's where you just want to hug the guy .
But on this particular move we go up , we bring the arm behind and then we spin around .
Ok .
So now let's talk about the footwork .
You should already know our spot turn or 7-Eleven turn on this before practicing this .
So as a guy , I put the arm behind her and as I do that , we always need some kind of counterbalance .
So if I'm going to be all the way forward on my right arm , if the right arms forward , if the right foot should be backwards .
But in this particular case , I'm actually going around in a circle front on the right .
Therefore , the foot is going back on the right .
So I can get a very cool circle on that foot as I spin her across and that's going to look even better .
OK .
So let me do just the guy's footwork .
The guy is going to go rendez step step .
Ok .
Let's look at that again .
He goes , Bronde step step .
OK , very , very quick .
And the lady you're gonna be doing a normal spin and you're gonna be spinning with your right foot first going 123 , 123 .
And it's gonna be a full spin and a half .
Ok .
So let's try that together .
So the lady does a spin and a half , she starts out facing me and I do the 123 facing sideways .
This is a salsa .
It can start from the salsa basic .
Therefore , my first step is on my left foot .
Your first step is on your right foot .
Ok .
And on that first step , I like to rock back first .
We rock back forward and on that forward step , you step in between my feet .
There we go and put all your weight on it .
There we go .
And now that's our cue to have our step already complete .
I'm going to have this hand already behind her and already stepping around , but she's not going to go yet .
Ok .
So you're going to do three steps .
She's going to go 123 and she's going to wind up and wait for it .
No way on that back foot .
And then she's going to get spun out of it .
She's gonna go 123 and finish it up .
Ok ?
So let's watch the ladies foot work one more time .
Ladies go back and together back and together arms behind you and then 123 .
Cool .
Ok .
So for the guy , I also go back and forward .
Now the difference for the guy is that we step at completely different times .
So for the guy , I throw this arm up and I bring that one back behind , but our footwork is completely different .
So you just go at your own time .
I go at my own time .
5678 , quick , quick , one , quick , quick two .
Nice .
Let's do that again .
Let's do it in slow motion now .
So I say quick , quick one which is quick , quick , slow .
So it's quick , quick one .
Now on that one , I'm standing on my left foot .
I did quick , quick one and I stepped on that left as I step on it , have that pop you off your rendez to make that happen .
So the rendez happens when you normally just step and do nothing on your slow .
So I step quick , quick one and stand completely on your foot .
One and at the end of that one , I go and then I hit quick , quick and I just like to point for two .
Cool .
Let's do that together .
5678 , quick , quick , one , quick , quick two , one more time .
Ready and quick , quick , one , quick , quick two .
Nice .
So now let me talk about what's happening after that .
After that .
We have quick , quick one and I ronde , I push my arm into her to let her know it's not time to go yet .
But I also hold my other arm behind her and let her know you aren't going backwards either .
So she should just stay there .
And as I finish the run day now , my weight is all on my right foot and I shoot out there and I threw her this way , which makes a very beautiful spin for both of us .
My arm ends up upside down and to make sure I'm on balance .
I don't want to be on both feet .
I want to stand on the left and point the right and that's pretty much it from here .
It's nice to either step back into her , I can step over into her here or I can just go ahead and do an outside turn , which she'll feel very comfortable with and switch back into your normal dance .
Hold , ok ?
And that's everything on that move .
