HOW TO DRAW FACES LIKE ART GOD (Beginner Friendly)

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

I've heard that your faces maybe like your favorite artist .

Well , then you come to the right place .

First , you need to find a reference .

This is something you can do on Pinterest .

They have hundreds of thousands of good references there .

So just find one right ?

You done good .

Let's get started .

Start off with the circle , then draw a line vertically down the middle of the circle and another one horizontally through the circle basically creating a nice cross .

Now we wanna chop a little bit of the sides of the circle just enough .

Don't overdo this because otherwise your face is gonna look very weird .

Now , we want to divide the face into three equal parts , the hairline , the eyebrow line , the nose line and the chin line .

As you can see me doing right here .

After that , you want to slim down the face even more towards the bottom , creating a nice taper towards the jawline .

Then you just connect it up to the chin line that you drew out there with all these steps done .

You should now have a nice face shape to start from .

Now we want to do the eye line which happens to land a little bit above the middle between the eyebrow line and the nose line , then you can work in the placement for the mouth , which is gonna be right in the middle between the nose and the chin line .

Now you can get to the good part , start sketching in the eyebrows which conveniently enough lands on the eyebrow line under the eyebrow on the eye line .

You can start sketching in the eyes if you don't know how to draw eyes .

Here's a quick tutorial start with a nice swooping line just like this .

After that , you can add some lashes if you want to and if you want it to be more male , don't add as many lashes .

Now you can draw in the pupil , whichever way you want the character to look and add the bottom eyelid , add some thickness to it to create some more depth to the whole eye .

Don't forget to add the upper eyelid fold and a little bit of a nice specular highlight to the eye done .

Now you can draw in the nose .

This is my personal way of doing it .

I like it .

No , it's very easy and very fast to do .

But if you don't like this way , I can show you another stylized way to draw the nose here , start with the lips and another ellipse on top , then you want to thicken up the outside a little bit and add the nostrils , add some shading to the bottom of the nose and a specular highlight and you're done now , it's time to draw in the mouth .

I'm drawing the mouth in a very neutral way here .

But there are so many ways that the mouth can express the whole feeling of the character .

So really take your time to study expressions if you want me to make a video on that , I can do that .

So just leave a comment down below .

If you want that time for bonus , deep start with a white V .

Add two lines coming out from the V , add the Cupids bow , then you want to add the bottom lip with the shadow underneath , create more volume .

Then you want to shade the top lip and add a little bit of a specular highlight and you're done .

I decided to slim down the face a little bit more because it looked a bit too wide to me .

Now you can add the hairline , the hairline looks different on everybody .

So look at your reference and see how it looks on that one .

When you're done with that , you can add in the ear , the ear fits right in between the nose and the eyebrow line .

So it's one third of the face .

The ear can be very daunting at first .

But once you learn the concept of how to draw an ear , you can basically just reuse it on every character and deform it a little bit to create variety .

It's very nice .

Now , I'm just gonna add the neck and boom with a little bit of video editing .

We're done with the portrait and as you can see the face follows the rule of thirds and the ear is also one third , as I said before , one important thing to keep in mind is to keep an eye distance between the eyes .

Otherwise you're gonna look like Mike Ross with two eyes and you don't want your portrait to look like that .

All right , as you can see , this portrait follows that rule as well .

That is why you can recognize it as a face .

Now , you might say this doesn't apply to stylized portraits , you know , but you're wrong , it applies to stylized portal as well as you can see by this stylized portal that a little while ago , it still applies to it .

So if you want to have big eyes on your character , you might want to widen the face a little bit .

If you wanna see anything else , just leave it down in the comments below and I'll get to that if I know enough about it , but that's gonna be it .

Thank you .

Bye bye .
