Hi , I'm Patrick Novotni .
This is my youtube channel and I'm doing how to videos on every single necktie knot .
No , man .
And I'm bringing them to you .
So if that's the kind of thing that you're looking for , then please subscribe .
All right , this time , I'm gonna show you a really cool twist on the Eldridge knot and it's called the Velvet knot .
So , anyhow , I'm gonna show you exactly how to do that step by step .
Let's get started .
All right .
So this is how you do the velvet knot .
It's gonna be tied with the little end .
So it's gonna be the long end .
So you want the big end already adjusted to where you want .
It's not gonna move very much afterwards once you got the tie uh all done up .
So if it's just past your belly button , that's probably gonna be just right .
Anyhow , let's take a close look at the velvet knot here .
All right , we're gonna take the big end , we're gonna pinch it .
It's gonna be our dimple .
We're gonna need that .
So hold on to it .
Taking the little end , we're gonna cross over the front , it's gonna go around the back like that and now feed it up through the front over the top of the necktie and back down , once we've got it to that , we're gonna cross it over the back like that and one more time over the top .
No , now we're gonna , uh , do that one more time over the top and now cross over the back with that little end and this is where it starts to look like and feel like the Eldridge knot .
Now we're gonna feed the little end up through this loop that I just have loosened and it's gonna get tucked underneath in the back of your knife tie .
So what , what we want here is very similar to the Eldridge knot .
We want these layers to start showing up .
All right .
So now we've got that all tightened up .
We're gonna wrap the little one up and through that same side again , we can keep it a little bit loose and then cross over the back like that .
Now , we're gonna take this little end and feed it up and through and again , tucking this down in the color here .
So I want this part to be tight and covering up any of the , any of the neck tie that's crossed over before .
And I don't want this part overlapping any of my other layers here and that's kind of how I want it to look .
Now , this uh loose end , we're gonna tuck this around our neck tie eventually and then just tuck it underneath .
If it all stay there , it would be really nice .
I'm just tucking it underneath at the end .
Hopefully .
There we go .
All right now , holding on to the knot , pulling down on the big end .
We can cinch it up to our neck .
I can adjust the tail and that's left behind .
There we go .
So I'm just making sure that I want this part of my necktie covering up the layers in behind .
So you can only see these layers here .
1234 .
Anyway , there we go .
So that's how you do the velvet knot .
I hope you like it .
