How to tie the Merovingian Knot or Ediety knot for your necktie

Hi , everyone .

I'm Patrick Van .

This is my youtube channel and I'm doing how to videos on every single neck tie knot known to man .

So , so subscribe if you want to today , I'm gonna be doing the A knot .

I'm gonna be showing you how to do that step by step .

It's also nicknamed the Mayor of India Knot or the Matrix Knot .

And the reason being is the bad guy in the second movie of the Matrix Trilogy , he's wearing it and it's really hard to see .

He's got a black shirt , a black tie on .

But uh a lot , a lot of people like to call this knot , the mayor of India Knot .

Now it's tied with the big end and it ends up going uh in behind the little end .

So it gets a really uh unique looking knot , which is pretty cool .

Uh The only problem is , uh it only comes down to my belly button on my shirt .

So it is a must that you wear it with a vest or a sweater , something that can cover up the bottom .

So we're gonna take a closer look and I'm gonna show you how to do it .

Awesome .

All right , everyone .

This is for the , all the Matrix fans out there .

This is how we're gonna start the tie .

We're gonna have the , uh the short end is gonna come down to about your belly button .

We're gonna tie it with the wide end .

Now , let's get closer so you can see what I'm doing .

All right now taking the big end , we're going to go underneath the little end a little bit different from how we've been starting for a lot of these uh inverted or reverse knots .

And now taking the big end up through the front and top down and behind .

If you're not , now we're gonna cross over the front , it's gonna show the seam up , which is , this is all done intentionally .

So if you're following along and if you got the seam up at this point , you're doing it right now , we're gonna take the big end , follow it through the top of the knot through the back and now we're gonna take the big end underneath the little end and we're going to fit it through the top of the tie and bring it down .

Now , as you see , I have this quite loose , I've made a big loop here .

I'm gonna pull the big end and behind the little end , tightening up my knot and now holding on to the little part of the tie , pulling on the little one , I'm going to tighten up my might look hard , but it really isn't .

So as you can see , this is why you need uh to be wearing a vest or a sweater .

Uh that covers up the bottom end because it's way too short and uh it looks kind of silly , but hey , now you can do the mayor of Knock or the A knot .
