How to Cook Spaghetti Squash in the Oven or Microwave

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

We're Adam and Joanne from inspired taste dot net and welcome to our kitchen .

We're showing you how to cut and cook spaghetti squash both in the oven and quickly in the microwave before we cook it , we need to cut it .

Use a dish towel to stop the squash from slipping around on your cutting board .

Then grab a heavy knife and carefully plunge it into the squash .

We like to make a few cuts on all sides of the squash until we feel like we can pull it apart .

See how we stopped just before the stem .

Don't try to cut through that .

It's too tough .

Instead pull the two halves apart , then simply remove the seeds .

We're going to roast this squash so drizzle a little olive oil over the cut side .

Then season with salt pepper and any seasonings you love place the halves cut side down onto a baking sheet .

And if you want sneak a few fresh herbs underneath , roast the squash in the oven until you can easily pierce it with a fork in a 375 degree oven .

You are looking at 40 to 50 minutes .

Here's another way to cut spaghetti squash .

Instead of making boat shaped halves , you can just cut straight down the middle .

Remember use a towel to keep it steady , then remove the seeds from the squash .

By the way , cutting the squash this way will make longer spaghetti like strands than the boat method .

Since the strands go around the squash in a circular pattern , it's also a little easier to do .

You could roast this or use your microwave season the inside of the squash with olive oil , salt and pepper , then place cut side down into a microwave safe dish .

Add about an inch of water to the bottom of the dish .

Then microwave until easily pierced with a knife .

We start with five minutes and go up from there as for serving spaghetti squash , here are two simple ways .

Add a drizzle of olive oil salt and pepper to the squash , then topped with fresh herbs or mix in some butter and top with freshly grated cheese .
