Solving the 4x4 Like a 3x3 [4x4 Rubik's Cube Additional Help]

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

All right .

So here I have a scrambled up four by four , Ruby's revenge in which all of the centers and edge pieces are completed .

If you don't know how to get your cube to the state , be sure to visit my four by four Ruby revenge tutorial where I explain exactly how to solve your cube into this sort of state .

Uh But if you hear from that tutorial , I'm just going to show you exactly how I visualize this just like a regular mixed up three by three , Rubik's cube and go and solve it from there .

So I'm gonna begin with the white side because most of you guys said that you preferred to begin with the white side and we're just going to build the cross .

So let's see , we have the first edge piece done already , the first white green edge piece done .

Now we have this white red edge piece .

So this edge piece we want to it up here into its cross position .

Uh So the first step is connecting the red with the red center , which is here and then this white with this white center which is there .

OK .

So we have the first two legs of the cross done .

Now , we want to connect this orange with its orange center and that white with the white center .

So there's that and then we wanna connect the blue with the blue center like soap and then this white with the white center like soap and then fix any mistakes we may have made .

Which is that .

So now , as you can see , we've built the cross of this four by four Rubik's cube .

And as you can see , it's pretty much the same exact thing as the regular Rubik's cube , except the middle layer is sort of doubled .

OK ?

Otherwise it's exactly the same thing and the corner placements are identical .

So we find something that's in the optimal position , which unfortunately , we don't have anything but this corner is wrong anyway .

So let's pop that corner out for now .

OK .

So we want to take this corner that's white , blue , red , put it in between the blue and red .

Then since it's on the right side , move it to the left , bring the right down , place this in and lift it up .

And now we've placed the corner into the correct spot .

Um Let's see no more position stuff .

So everything's in the bottom layer .

And so what we do with that is we take this white piece and we stick it underneath this hole like so and we turn that give that two twists and lift this up and now we've actually successfully popped both of these out .

So this one is orange and green .

So we put that in between orange and green .

It's on the left .

So we move it to the right , bring the left down , place this in and lift this up .

And now we have the final piece which is orange and blue .

So we place that in between orange and blue , we move it away , bring this down , place it in and lift it up and there we have it .

We've successfully completed the first layer of the four by four rubis revenge using regular three by three methods .

Now we go ahead and solve the middle layer which we find any edge piece that doesn't have any yellow on it and go from there .

So this is green and red .

So we align the green with the green .

We see that the red is on the right .

So we move this away to the left , bring down the right reconnect this green , lift it up , misplace the corner .

So move it away , bring it down , place it in , lift it up and we've placed in this edge piece .

Now we can do the same thing with the rest of these .

So we have this blue red , move it away from the red , bring it on the left reconnect , lift it up .

Here's the corner piece , move it away , bring this down , place it in , lift it up .

Hopefully this is giving you a good idea about how to solve the four by four .

If you have no idea what I'm doing because you've never solved the three by three .

Uh Or at least never solve it using my method .

Then you can go over here where I show you how I take a Rubik's cube like this and solve it using these methods just to make sure that you're not confused .

OK ?

And now what we're gonna do is we're gonna take this edge piece which doesn't have any yellow on it .

And we're going to connect the blues , move it away , bring this down , reconnect the blues like so lift it up and now we have the corner piece so move it away , bring it down , place it in , lift it up and one more edge piece left I believe , which is this green , red uh sorry , green , orange .

So connect the oranges , move it away from the green , bring this down , reconnect the oranges , lift it up and then take this corner , move it away and bring this down , place it in , lift it up and we successfully built the first two or technically three layers of the Ruby's revenge .

And now we just build the cross .

So this is a line .

So turn the front , lift up the right , turn the top , then bring down the right , bring back the top and turn the front and that builds us our cross again using the same methods that I've used on the three by three cube .

So if you don't know what I'm doing , you can go ahead and check that tutorial out .

Also , if you've already built these first three layers and you are actually following my original four by four tutorial , please go back to that video at this time where I explain some stuff that might be a little bit different than what you expect .

Ok .

But if you're just here to enjoy the ride , then let's just keep going .

So we connect these until there are two colors which we have blue and green .

We hold this one color is on the right side .

The incorrect colors on the right side , lift up the right spin the top twice , bring it right down , bring this back , lift it up , place it in and bring it down .

And now we have two colors from misplaced which is this red and green .

So again , lift up the right spin the top twice , bring this down , bring this back , lift this up , place it in , bring it down .

OK ?

And now we've connected our cross .

So now all we have left are the corners of which we have two aligned .

So this is a parody and we're back at solving the corners .

So this one is correct , but the other ones are not .

So we lift up the left , turn the top , lift up the right turn the top , bring down the left , turn the top , bring down the right , turn the top and that's it .

And now we just do the final step .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So spin it twice , bring it down , bring it back , place it in , bring it down , lift it up , spin it twice , bring it down , bring it up , stick it in , bring it down and we do this two more times .

OK ?

I just fast forward to do that a little bit because I was doing the same thing over and over again .

Hopefully , this helped you out a little bit , at least in some way .

I mean , this was just meant as an additional help video by no means .

Was this any sort of instruction ?

I didn't really even explain what I was doing .

The whole idea behind this was to sort of help you visualize the ways we do the same formulas that we do for the three , three on the four by four .

It should be pretty much self-explanatory , but this was just sort of meant as a visual aid .

video content Image generated by Wilowrid

So at this point , you can go ahead and uh check out my channel for my other videos or if you came from the four by four tutorial , you can go back to that and check that out as well where I actually explain fully what all the parody formulas do and where I help you learn how to actually solve this without referring to any sort of guides .

Otherwise , thanks for watching .
