How to draw a kitten easily with colored pencils.

Hi guys .

I'm back again with another tutorial .

This time .

I'm going to show you how to draw a kitten easily under one house .

Since this is a quick drawing , I'm not worried about the really so much , but hopefully we will end up in a cute looking kitten .

So we need a good quality drawing paper , various shades of brown and black pencils and white gel pen .

I'm gonna be using baby oil for blending and an electric eraser for some fine details .

If you don't have an electric eraser , a white pencil or a normal eraser would do the job to start off with , draw a basic outline with a graphite pencil .

Then I'm starting with her eyes as you can clearly see , draw the central pupil area with a black pencil , then take a light brown to draw around the pupil and a darker brown around that .

Then using a much darker brown like dark amber .

I'm drawing her lit margins .

I'm using black to darken it further .

Now using a blender pencil .

I am blending these colors in a circular fashion .

If you don't have a blender pencil , you can use any light colored pencils .

Now the eye is almost complete except that it looks lifeless .

So I'm adding a small highlight with the whitesel pen for the highlight .

You can apply white acrylic with a small pointed brush also .

But if you have a white gel pen , it is more convenient .

Now , what I'm doing is called indentation .

I'm using an empty ballpoint pen to draw the white coarse hairs over her eyes and ears .

This will intend the paper so that the pigment from colored pencil won't reach the .

So these lines will stay white even after the drawing is complete .

But I made a mistake of using baby oil or the intended area .

And all these lines got filled with pencil pigment but still some lines stayed white , you will see them later .

So one thing I learned from this mistake is that indentation is meant for drawing , using only pencils , using a solvent may cause pigments to reach even in intended areas .

Now , I'm using various shades of brown to draw the base of her face .

Notice that I'm drawing several patterns over her face with different brown pencils .

This is all based on the reference image .

I'm drawing small hairs projecting out from the edges .

I'm using a few layers of yellow o at places I'm now using a brush dipped in baby oil to blend the pencil stros just like I said before .

Some of the intended lines also got filled with color , which shouldn't have happened .

But I don't worry about that because I can always use an electric eraser gel pen or a white pencil to draw those white hairs .

Again , I'm going back again with the black pencil to redefine the patterns .

One thing to notice here is that when drawing the patterns , I'm drawing it as a series of short lines in the direction of hair .

This will help to establish a furry look for the kitten using blush pink and peach .

I'm drawing her nose since most of the areas around her mouth and chest are white .

I'm not using any pencils there for the shadows of those areas .

I'm using a combination of light gray and peach .

The fur coming from her back is a dull brown color .

So I'm combining the colors gray and brown to make it dull , then use the baby oil again to blend them slightly .

Her tail is black colored .

So I'm using black and dark brown to draw that and I will draw small fur projecting out to make it realistic .

Since her front posts are also white , I will only use some grays and peaches for drawing the shadows .

Finally , I'm using white colored pencils , white gel pen and the electric eraser to draw a few white hairs here and there to make her a bit more furry .

So the drawing is complete .
