OK .
So before I tell you guys how to meditate , let's go over some of the benefits .
Meditation reduces stress .
And many studies show that it improves your mental health .
Meditation also enhances your self-awareness causing you to develop a stronger understanding of yourself .
Higher self awareness is also really important .
If you're trying to lucid dream meditation will also lengthen your attention span , which means that you'll get bored less often .
Meditation is known to help you fight addictions control pain , decrease your blood pressure and improve your sleep .
And speaking of sleep meditation will boost your dream recall , which means that you'll be able to remember your dreams easier and it will also strengthen your ability to control things inside of dreams , which is really important if you're serious about lucid dreaming , something that I find really cool about meditation is that you can do it anywhere and you don't need any equipment to get started .
There are many different ways to meditate .
You can lie down , you can sit on the floor or on your bed , you can even hang upside down .
Well , maybe not that , but you get the point .
It's really just about what feels comfortable to you for lucid dreaming the best time to meditate is right before you go to sleep .
So once you're comfortable and once you've gotten rid of every distraction , sit up right on your bed and close your eyes , now , you may notice that I'm telling you to sit up .
Right .
And , and the reason for that is because if you lie down , there's a greater risk of accidentally falling asleep .
If you think that you can handle it , then it's completely fine to do this lying down .
But again , for beginners , I recommend sitting up , right ?
As the goal is to stay both relaxed and alert , falling asleep isn't always a bad thing .
If your goal is to achieve a lucid dream , but it's better to finish the meditation and then go to sleep because the longer you meditate , the better .
Now you may be wondering , can I listen to music while meditating ?
The truth is music can be distracting .
And I recommend trying this meditation routine without listening to anything .
But if you are going to listen to something , make sure that it's very subtle .
For example , you can listen to nature sounds or waves on the beach .
This can help later on in the meditation with visualizing things .
Although it's still a good practice to learn how to meditate without music because it might not always be available .
OK .
So now it's time to meditate for lucid dreaming .
There are two main types of meditation , concentration and mindfulness , concentration is when you listen to a voice , visualize the dream that you want to have or just spend time focusing your mind on a specific thing .
Mind fullness is when you clear away all of your thoughts and just sit there in peace .
Both types of meditation are great for lucid dreaming and we are going to use both of them in the following meditation routine .
So get in your position , become as comfortable as possible and then do the following one , close your eyes and focus on your breathing .
Focus all your awareness on the breath going in and out of your lungs .
Keep it natural and just notice how it feels .
If your mind wanders off and you think about other things , just bring your focus back to your breathing .
It may take a while to get used to pushing thoughts away .
But over time , you will get better .
If you catch yourself feeling bored , then you're probably waiting for the meditation to be over rather than actively engaging with it .
Steer your focus back to the breathing .
And the single goal of not thinking about anything else , do this for 5 to 10 minutes .
But don't actually keep track of time , just relax and move on to the next step when you feel ready .
Two .
Now you want to concentrate all of your focus on visualizing something .
A good visualization for lucid dreaming is a natural setting like a beach forest or garden which will create a relaxing , stress free environment for a few minutes , focus on all of your senses except sight .
So for example , if the place that you're imagining is a beach , then focus on the sound of the waves in the ocean and the feeling of a cool breeze on your face .
When you feel ready , open your imaginary eyes and look around , you can even imagine yourself standing up and walking through the environment that you created , Spend as much time as you want , exploring your surroundings .
It should feel like you teleported to a new place and that you're not in your bed at all .
And then when you're done , finish your meditation by opening your eyes for real .
The cool thing about this second stage is that if you try this in the middle of the night , there's a chance that your body will fall asleep physically and you will enter a lucid dream directly simply by becoming immersed in your new surroundings .
This can be difficult and you shouldn't force it to happen .
But if you do suddenly pop into a lucid dream while meditating , at least you'll understand why .
If you do become lucid , it's important to know how to control things in the dream so that you can have as much fun as you can .
I made a video all about how to control lucid dreams and I recommend watching it if you're serious about lucid dreaming so that the next time it happens to you , you'll know exactly what to do , but that's about it for today's video .
I hope you learn something new about meditation .
This is such a great way to achieve amazing lucid dreams .
And if you haven't tried it before , I definitely recommend giving it a shot .
